I ran a 3 hour (sic) OS facilitation training for some Environment Agency people. Towards the end I put on a cloth cap and told them: when you step into the circle, remember this: "There's no need to be la di da or uppity" sang, with accompanying slide. All you need, really. The rest is mechanics.

It's not documented but I'm certain that Open Space, invented by Harrison Owen in 1985, was simply an IRL version of Usenet bulletin boards. Then, in 2002, Gabriela Ender launched Open-Space Online, completing the circle.

"our brains are wired for certainty."
@franboait.bsky.social The Guardian
No - not the entire brain but just the left hemisphere.
The right hemisphere is about possibility, context and wholeness.
Iain McGilchrist has written and spoken about the widespread loss of right hemisphere function.

First screenshot is from my casebook. The pre-project cry of "We're not merging the trusts" was soon reversed. Wikipedia item shows eventual outcome. RIP Bob Sang, appointed by London South Bank University as the UK's first professor of patient and public involvement in 2006.
