I'm truly, utterly proud to call myself everyone's big sister, because you all constantly remind me that there's always a reason to smile.

And I'm grateful that I'm somewhere where I can be surrounded by amazing people who want me to be happy, like I want them to in kind. That I can open up about myself, and find happiness where I'd otherwise find misery or malaise.

I'm tired of not being able to enjoy my birthday, so I changed that. I made sure that, no matter what, I would enjoy today, and thanks to my friends, my supporters, thanks to everyone in my life... I actually had a birthday that was utterly fantastic.

Between those two things, and other reasons I don't really want to talk about, I eventually just decided to regard my birthday as another day. Maybe treat myself to cake, and dinner, but otherwise just... Stay comfy, keep myself distracted.

But not this year.

My uncle, complications from diabetes. My aunt, hit and run as she was walking across the street to work. My grandfather... It's been so long, I just can't remember... Three birthdays that started out enjoyable, and quickly became not...

This is something I've not told overly many people about, because it doesn't sound believable... When I was younger, three years in a row, I had a relative pass away on my birthday, an uncle, an aunt, and a grand parent.

For one, it's the timing. Right after Thanksgiving, immediately into the Christmas holiday season. So easy to forget, so much so that... People do just that, forget it, unless I happen to remind them... Kinda sucks having to do that. For two...
