When I hear neighbors here in the south singing the praises of @katmabu.bsky.social and @zohrankmamdani.bsky.social I'm never surprised. These people see candidates running for a cause they belive in, with messages that resonate no matter where you are in the nation.

Today the phrase "why vote for GOP-lite when the GOP is right there" rings loud in my ears. I'm never surprised when the Democratic party polls low or underperforms in the south.

No-one was blaming the Democrats for the shutdown, instead they were cheering them on. Tuesday showed what the party fighting for something can do. All of that momentum that could have carried through 2026 just got erased in one Sunday night vote.

I'm saying "They" as in the entire bloc because if this was indeed a defection of 8 despite the indications of more possible yes votes, that represents a catastrophic failure of leadership from the top and complete abdication to change things from the entire structure.

I don't know. Maybe they should get $20 a day.

Maybe we should be fully funding these programs and not leaving them up to the whims of politicians?

Maybe we should be working towards a society that doesn't let people starve under any circumstances?

Darn, the elections office out here depriving you of any and all enrichment at the polls this year.

Was your ballot just municipal races with two of the three uncontested as well?
