Pretty amazing that all three of these actors guest-starred on the SAME episode of Deep Space Nine.
Appearing on the same episode of Deep Space Nine are three iconic character actors: On the left John Beck dressed as a human colonist, Caroline Lagerfelt, as a Cardassian judge, and Fritz Weaver as a Cardassian defense attorney.

The closeups of Kirk's face where the background doesn't move could just be pickups done on a different day. Star Trek wasn't the best when it came to continuity. You don't get a good look at that part of the bridge set until Season 2's The Doomsday Machine.

After being marooned on a deserted island, Philoctetes has learned that Odysseus has returned to conscript him to fight in the Trojan War. Philoctetes's hated for Odysseus is palpable. If he stays, he will either kill himself or Odysseus. However, when the son of Achilles informs him they have to headwind to sail, this was his reply.

Wicked Odysseus, my friend!" This quote is from the play Philoctetes, written by Sophocles. This is Philoctetes's exclamation when the son of Achilles asks him to return to the battle and fight for the Greeks under the command of the Sons of Atreus (Agamemnon and Menelaus) and general Odysseus. It's a cry of anguish because 9 or so years earlier, they abandoned Philoctetes on a deserted island after he was bitten by a magic snake causing his foot to get infected. The infection festered and made the soldiers nauseated. Philoctetes's howls of pain made him an outcast of his own army.
