I am a computational physicist that specializes in lattice gauge theory. Outside of physics, I enjoy spending time with my wife, skiing, playing guitar, programming, trying out local brews, and exploring pure math. I am also an avid fan of metal music.
I've been working on a presentation for a collaboration meeting this week, and I'm honestly devastated that this slide couldn't make the cut

Watch once more as the powers at be chip away at the American psyche and manufacture consent to send us into another forever war. If we go to war, we will be told for the next some odd number of years that we don't "support the troops" for not wanting them to be sent overseas to die.

In case anybody forgot, it was the first Trump administration that got us **out** of the Iran Nuclear Deal, which Iran was following according to reporting from the IAEA at the time.

There's just something about the juxtaposition of this news headline and photo that feels like it encapsulates the absurdity of living through history while also living in it.

My heart goes out to the victims of the obscene attack that happened yesterday on Pearl Street in Boulder. For the delegitimization of a legitimate cause, both the blood of the victims of yesterday's attack and that of the children of Palestine are on his hands.

Every time you see a story of an activist being detained for standing in solidarity with the people of Palestine, remember that it is because of stories like these.

Mwahahaha! I managed to write a custom tensor datatype for SwissFit (Python) that runs SIMD-vectorized Nim code in the backend that typically achieves a 3x-4x speedup over NumPy on elementary arithmetic operations performed over reasonably-sized arrays (O(10)-O(1000) entries).

Achieving sub-percent precision on many important observables/parameters of the Standard Model is cool and all, but can we really say that lattice QCD has evolved as a field until we've decided to start referring to "4-tori" as "4-dimensional hyperdoughnuts"?

I had a wonderful time at my first in-person USQCD All-Hands meeting in Maryland this week! It is always so wonderful to come back from a big meeting feeling invigorated to keep pushing on the research that matters to you.

I swear, if we had the modern-day Gestapo busting people's doors down in the US, we'd still have ~50% of the folks here saying, "idk, maybe we should hear them out". Shoot, we'd have a whole culture war over people feeling persecuted for being scolded over considering Gestapo apologia.

I was very happy to see our twelve-flavor dataset being used for its intended purpose. The entire scientific community benefits when we value cooperation over competition!

Reproducibility and Open Science in Lattice Quantum Field Theory
Reproducibility and Open Science are increasingly discussed as essential aspects of the research process. While there are areas where the Lattice community has been ahead of the curve with respect to ...

Not even a month in, and has become clear that we're witnessing a coup led by the oligarchs and encouraged by our fragile institutions. This is a time for class solidarity. While us and the rest of the world burns, remember that it is the oligarch robber barons that started the fire and tended to it

Though it is difficult, I highly recommend taking a moment to see for yourself what Gaza, and especially northern Gaza, looks like. While you do, remember that it was our US tax dollars that contributed to leveling entire neighborhoods through "precision strikes" targeting "Hamas fighters".
Satellite photos show the Gaza Strip before and after the devastation of the Israel-Hamas war
The Israel-Hamas war has devastated the Gaza Strip. Satellite photos offer some sense of the destruction in the territory.

Now that war with Mexico is potentially on the table, I think it's appropriate to say that we may have hit the nuclear Gandhi stage of Sid Meier's Civilization

Unsolicited opinion: please, for the love of god, stop putting "ab initio" in paper titles. Literally nothing is "ab initio".
