#Brightonmarathon weekend done. What a gorgeous event. Reminded around the 18-mile mark about the importance of resilience, determination & ambition as the heat hit and the legs began to ache & the finish line seemed so close yet so far away. I'm sure there's an assembly in there for the children!

I was having this very discussion with pupils two days ago. This highlights the many benefits of reading but also, as one child said to me, 'It takes me to places I don't get to go.' I teach inner-city children and it represents escapism for those who don't always get the opportunities others enjoy.
