I want the courage and patience of this little oak. Two bright leaves in cold sand, still reaching up. Spring’s a promise far off, yet it still makes its stand. Even as slumber edges close, it stays rooted, not unafraid, but brave enough.

Ernest Shackleton was a polar explorer in the early 20th century. His Endurance expedition is considered to be one of the most extraordinary in maritime history. I read a bunch of his books.

Yeah, that’s the song I was thinking of until my brain flicked to Shackleton 😂

Yay, Tré!! You’ll do great, I know! If you don’t want to carve, you can use an exact-o knife to cut the pumpkin skin then peel it, like an etching. It’s easier than carving. I did this one a decade ago. 🎃 🍂
