I have a keep note called "Yes Dinners" that everyone likes and are easy to make. As long as I rotate through them regularly, and only try new recipes no more than once or maybe twice a week, everybody is happy.

Keeping food sensitive people happy at dinner is a success on every measure I can see.

My pies fucking rocked that year and she LOVED my crusts. I told my sister my secret and she forgot it was a secret and TOLD MY MOM. I have never trusted my sister with a secret again. My pies still kick ass and I still regularly buy my pie crusts because it's easier.

I felt like my mom never thought I was doing well enough. She is a huge "if it's not homemade it's not good enough" person, and after I got a full time job I didn't have time to make my pie crusts so I bought the store brand pie crusts for my pies. I lied and told her I had made them.

When you have a traumatic birth and everyone waves it away because NoBoDy DiEd that's not a good enough response. Your bodily autonomy, your voice, not being sexually assaulted, etc, all mattered, too.

Buying into snake oil scams isn't the answer, but neither is dismissing the problem.

This is the answer. There are real issues with our medical system, especially giving birth, especially for marginalized communities. When you look for answers or support, the easiest and loudest answers may be bad or scams but they LISTEN and VALIDATE the trauma you went through which feels good.

We've had to pull back dramatically on eating out this year, especially at the good places. It's made a huge difference for our budget but it's also sad 🥲
