Several new spreads in my Reading Journal. A couple of which were the 'Oops! Forgot to include the book cover, again' sort, so I had to jury rig stuff. Btw, is it 'jury rig' or 'jerry rig'? 🤔

Several early November reads/spreads. It's been a good reading month, so far.

My reading journal is chugging along.

Btw... not that I'm geeking out or anything, but I'm now using a binder/trading card sleeve system to keep track of my 'Want to Read' list and LIBBY holds. It's easy to rearrange according to my moods. I've also gone with index cards for tracking series.

Even though we didn't get trick-or-treaters last Halloween, we have candy to hand out. Looking forward to enjoying it over the next week.

I'm consuming twice as many books as anticipated. Original goal was one per week. Total for this month = 9. Probably because the LIBBY app makes it so easy.

Two new entries in my Plotter fountain pen ink journal: Diamine's 'Velvet Emerald' and 'Glacier'. The paper is Sanzen's Tomoe River (68gsm). I'm using a Pilot parallel pen, a Kakimori brass nib, and a small round brush for these spreads.

After reading several gloomy books in a row, I had to lighten up a bit. Have I mentioned how much fun I'm having with my first reading journal?

My critical eye is being unkind about that painting on the right. Regardless, it's another entry in the Mijello watercolor journal. Only one spread left to go!

I finished T. Kingfisher's WHAT MOVES THE DEAD today and couldn't wait to add it to my reading journal.

My reading journal spread for DOCTOR SLEEP by Stephen King.
October 8, 2025 at 9:06 PM
Reading journal spread for THE WOMAN IN BLACK by Susan Hill. My first read for October.

The first couple of 'review' spreads in my reading journal. The writing was done with fountain pen. Eventually, I want to get a portable printer (Sprocket or Ivy maybe?) to make color book-cover stickers.

Now attempting to keep a reading journal. Figured one book per week would be my speed. This spread only goes through December because I hope to acquire a new journal for 2026. This is all due to the fact that I - once again - have a public library card.

I created a gouache painting using the Caran d'Ache Studio set. To commemorate a productive day of letter-writing.

The journal was gifted to me - it's cotton paper with a leather cover.

I just saw Drew Brown - on Fahrney's Pens YouTube channel - go over 'The Three Ps of Platinum'. I don't have a Preppy, but I really dig my Plaisir (M) and Prefounte (M) fountain pens. On occasion, there've been months between use, but they've always been juicy for me. Budget-friendly, too.

I've never been big on moisturizer, but this hand cream feels nice and smells yummy. I actually wasn't going to get it due to a very tight budget. But after trying the tester - at Trader Joe's - and showing my partner how great it smelled, he quietly tossed a box into the cart.

Only a few spreads left in 'The Mijello Watercolor Journal' video series, including Burnt Sienna #2 (PR102). As you can see, I'm feeling autumnal.

(3/3) The third one covers the other half of the trip. So glad I was gifted this journal; it's a lot of fun to create spreads like these. In a future YouTube video, I'll show this journal and perhaps share some pics and clips from my trip.

(2/3) The second contains brief entries covering a family trip. The first half, anyway. The butterflies are there because I saw quite a few of them in California.

(1/3) Several journal spreads for August 2025. The first is the calendar. Also shown is the TWSBI Swipe fountain pen I used for all three. The ink used was my own mix of Noodler's Bad Blue Heron and Pilot's Iroshizuku Chiku-Rin.

Was spoiled on a recent trip and enjoyed some meals out. This was at THE LAZY DOG in California. 'Fried Chicken Sandwich with Lemon Pepper Tots'. Yummy! I love slaw on a sandwich. The tots were citrus-bright and only slightly oversalted.

Steampunk Saturday... a watercolor project from July 2020.

Concept (fountain pen) sketch on note-paper vs final (fine-liner) sketch on cotton watercolor paper.

Plus, some menu notes for my imaginary dream diner.

Latest journal spread using Diamine's Eau de Nil in a Platinum Plaisir (medium nib) fountain pen.

First time using Eau de Nil and I love the turquoise/teal color.

(PS: Yes, I know my collage game is weak.)

Last night, I pulled this box of S&B Japanese curry from the pantry. I told my partner 'We're out of meat, mushrooms, and peas. Looks like tomorrow's dinner will be carrot and onion curry'.

Guess what he picked up after work, today? 😊
