Housing and transit data guy. Against fascism. My "bluesky posts" represent myself and do not represent my employer or any affiliated groups and organizations.
Also why does this have to be so complicated? The track is there and the track is at grade. We can't put down two platforms, a ped bridge to the other side and an elevator in a few years??

Is it normal outside of the U.S. or California to mandate that street festivals must have 26 feet wide emergency lanes if a block has a building taller than 3 stories?

Why is Raburn going off about needing to upzone San Antonio? Its already much denser than most actual BART station locations in Oakland. Moreover, Brooklyn Basin and future waterfront densification is across the freeway? And with SB 79, upzoning is automatic anyways. What a weird complaint.

Berkeleyside's coverage of the Charlie Kirk event included a brief moment of housing politics when the TPUSA speaker accused Berkeley of being nimby hypocrites and Berkeleyside is like: um acthually!

Shattuck Avenue has struggled to be an attractive area since the Key trains left. The key issue is obviously that a semi-highway of 4 lanes meant for trains is dominated by loud autos and then flanked by diagonal parking. What if the street was turned into buildings and the parking areas roadways?

I love the endless scams of this admin. Whats the point in a loan you can never pay off? The median *first time* home buying age is 40

Two takeaways:
1) the Central Valley (mostly Hispanic) teamed up with the expensive mostly White and Asian coasts, reversing education polarization
2) The rural areas going no are mostly white rural areas. The alignment of Latino-heavy Central Valley with White Jefferson was short lived.

In 2020, the state and ABAG had a high and low ball housing estimate. ABAG asked for the lowest requirement (441,176). Then ABAG weighed among several methodologies whether to divy up homes by city based on VMT, race equity, jobs, transit etc. Vote was rec'd here: x.com/aceckhouse/s...

It wasnt. There was years of discussion, votes and stat analysis on the allocation. It started in 2019 when Bay Area metro gov (ABAG) and the state had to project a forecast of homes based on housing affordability metrics. Before 2019, it was just historic population estimates.

Maxwell Park is now East Oakland's first neighborhood to become Moderate Resource. Oh, Longfellow & west Bushrod moved from Low to Moderate Resource, I think, meaning it's no longer exempt from SB 79.

The Mission between 22nd and 18th st appears to be de-gentrifying. Back to Low Resource. Same with SOMA: now only has one high resource tract around the Transbay Center area. More of the Bayview is now id'd as higher segregated than last year. Westside SF going for Highest to high resource.

All zones in the dark green are now unified in density standards. While areas in the light green are currently the same as their old codes due to fire risk.

Happy Middle Housing Day in Berkeley. As of today, multifamily housing up to 3 stories at 70 units per acre is byright and ministerial on all Berkeley lots in the flatlands and foothills for the first time in history, stretching from Kensington to Oakland.

Berkeley is shaping up to the Jersey City of the Bay. Just going gangbusters approving housing. Its a new tower here every month. The latest tower proposal today, 169 homes, at Durant and Telegraph just approved by the Zoning Board and certain to be approved by Council.

This is my relatively realistic BART system where core coverage was prioritized. Do the 1968 Geary - Third Street Plan. Have a 5-car length system between West Berkeley/ San Pablo Avenue to 580 / Elmhurst. Market Street subway is a BART subway as initially intended. Transbay serv to UCSF and SFSU

Ok found it. So Oakland's also committed to a Missing Middle citywide rezoning. Havent heard any updates about it. And several upzonings including Rockridge & Temescal, Millsmont?, and some scattered areas all over town.

Silicon Valley took away from the Theranos saga that blonde women in tech are bad when the actual takeaway was that tech people not in biotech and without medical degrees will always fail to revolutionize the health industry.

@minneapolis1934.bsky.social is there a pattern in the N-S names? Kains? Cornell? Talbot? Evelyn? These sound like relatives or friends of the developer I bet.

Its origins would be Keystone Tract built by prolific West Berkeley landowner George Sshmidt

@therealjeanwalsh.bsky.social the combining of the 18 has been a total disaster for frequency. Its 5:30 pm and a trunk line bus isnt coming for 23 minutes. This did not happen when the 18 was spit up.
