the birthright clause was not just written to wipe dred scott off of the books, it was written to repudiate the *idea* behind dred scott, you might say the larger *ideological project* of dred scott. and the whole of section 1 of the 14th amendment is a constitutional statement of political equality

A solid foundation for an “eliminate poverty” platform
Tho I’d say $30 min wage
Where are the public servants who will fight for this
-Bust up monopolies
-Boost unions
-$20/hr fed minimum wage
-Ban Wall Street from buying homes
-Pass M4A
-Universal childcare
-Get rid of Trump’s tariffs
-Enact UBI
-Tax the rich

These are crucial steps to making America affordable again. Every Democrat must fight for this.

Remember: RFK Jr. fired his last CDC director because she refused to ram through his anti-vax agenda.

Yesterday, RFK Jr.’s handpicked vaccine skeptics threw out DECADES of settled science — and Donald Trump gave a thumbs-up.

This will hurt American kids and families.

We don't need a Dem candidate who sides with the billionaires. We just don't. And I guarantee y'all that if you nominate this guy you will live to regret it.

He's also got a habit of vetoing really good bills because the billionaires don't like them. We can do better.
Gov. @gavinnewsom says he disagrees with Mayor @zohrankmamdani about the need for a wealth tax on billionaires, which he is “adamantly against” - says Dems are a “big tent party” with both views.

One of the most destructive institutions in our nation is the for-profit prison system. Corporations lining their pockets by keeping people in prison and punishing them financially for being there. Lining the pockets of elected reps to do it.
This has to stop.

Super interesting thread (read up to get the start) Posits Dem leadership stuck in the decade they became “famous “ while the rest of us have moved on. Also has me thinking about viral celebrities unprepared for the attention.
"fame and power are types of trauma" is one of those things I did *kinda* already understand but didn't ever think explicitly

As of Monday, Trump has fired over 100 immigration judges, essentially on suspicion of them being judges, as opposed to sure-thing compliant cogs in the mass deportation machine

Trump Has Never Been Clearer About What an Immigration Judge’s Real Job Is
The president doesn’t want immigration judges who handle cases by the book. He wants immigration judges who will rubber-stamp his mass deportations agenda.

Can I let you in on a little secret?

Billionaire philanthropy isn’t charity.

It’s PR to distract you from low wages, labor exploitation, and a tax system that’s rigged for the rich.

I’m in this post and I’m write about it
I saw a meme last night about a generational divide marker of folks who cannot sit through videos and want the words typed out because they read faster than they can watch a video and I felt that deep in my heart. I'm happy for folks who love video, but I hate them. Give me text. Let me read.

In case you wonder if there will ever be justice for the victims of the racist border gestapo or an attempt to restore constitutional rule, Hakeem wans you to know "not on my watch"
Jeffries: "The border is secure. That's a good thing. It happened on his watch. He wants to claim credit for it, of course he'll get credit for that. In terms of making sure that we actually deal with the issues that matter, including on immigration, there's a lot that's left to be desired."

No-strings-attached, zero-means-testing, no-questions-asked cash payouts have been proven, over and over again, to be the most effective form of charity/aid going.

It gets people in housing, and it saves the state money. We know this. It's fact, not theory.
An Oregon pilot program giving cash to homeless youths sees a staggering reduction in homelessness. The program gave participants $1,000 cash payments each month for two years, and at the end of the project's first phase, 91% of participants reported being in stable housing.

The two-pronged campaign slogans I want to see:
1. End Poverty in America (so much under this: universal healthcare, UBI, affordable housing, tax the rich, ect)
2. Impeach and Convict (aka lock them up, crime doesn’t pay, end corruption, they won’t get away with it, no one is above the law)
