anyways, that's all... it's not very well structured because so many things were happening or not happening, I'm glad I received at least some payment for a month. But as they cannot pay much only the most vulnerable people will join them and will go through it as well and I pity them.

The funny thing is that the CEO trashtalks about other people behind their backs, so he talks to other people about me but just yesterday he tried to complain to me about the CEO and how he does everything wrong and that HIS contract is wrong 😭 like discuss it with the CEO why are you telling me??
October 31, 2025 at 11:42 AM
I feel extremely bad for people they might hire now, even if they pay them some money the situation is very unhealthy. Not even my mum felt so entitled to my labour when I lived with her which says something...
October 31, 2025 at 11:40 AM
that if I really worked hard they would find a way to pay, and so on. That my reputation is bad now because I didn't finish everything for free. I eventually pressured the CEO into paying me (they registered the company finally after I stopped working) and I got the money for that 20h/week month.
October 31, 2025 at 11:39 AM
I was the person who did most of the technical job, because the CTO generated code with AI and couldn't even do anything with it after, but they said about me that I'm just not dedicated to the project and they need people who really like the idea,
October 31, 2025 at 11:36 AM
Just mind you I told them that I'm in a difficult economic situation right now and I don't have enough money for food, while the CEO was bragging about his new flat in London. And when I asked to pay me they were basically trash talking about me.
October 31, 2025 at 11:34 AM
So when I was finishing my month trial there was no money in sight as a payment for that month. And I was offered to work the full day instead. The CEO went on a honeymoon without paying me. I said that sorry but I will not start working the full day if you don't pay me.
October 31, 2025 at 11:32 AM
I was offered to work part time for a month for half a sum that I wanted initially, and I agreed. The CEO received the endorsement but he was waiting for someone's help to apply to create a company for a couple of months at that point even though all you need is to fill the form on gov.uk.

I wanted to update the stack to Next.js during the testing, but I was told to do it now, and it's the process that takes some time. Eventually I said that I want to be paid at least the minimum wage and I can finish the project like that.
October 31, 2025 at 11:27 AM
So we made a plan of working out how to fix our project in a way that it will please the CEO, and I wanted to make a test release as soon as possible because first it's a start up, you need to act fast and to test fast, and second I would have accomplished the MVP part and just felt better
October 31, 2025 at 11:25 AM
(The salary I was asking for wasn't big for the UK, like 30k for a developer isn't much). And in the moment when I heard that I realised that I might never see ever the scarce payment for the MVP, my motivation was definitely disappearing at that point.
October 31, 2025 at 11:23 AM
That's a completely weird situation for a start up of just a few people. Just before that I received the "offer" that they will pay me a sum of money only when we finish the MVP and test everything and if it doesn't have bugs... And they will give a full working contract after they have X in revenue
October 31, 2025 at 11:21 AM
When I thought that we could finally launch the alpha test, the CEO just said all of a sudden that he actually wanted something else. I was shocked to hear that for the first time and asked why he didn't say anything all this time, he said that he told it to the CTO and expected him to tell me.
October 31, 2025 at 11:17 AM
The CEO didn't give me any feedback, he gave it to the CTO thinking that the CTO will discuss it with me, but he mostly never did. I was fixing the generated AI slop that caused my psychic damage, and when I was happy that I finished most of the bugs, I heard on a call that the CEO doesn't like it.
October 31, 2025 at 11:16 AM
At first I was very enthusiastic, but the more I communicated with them, the worse the feeling was about the company. For example, even though there are not that many people involved, the hierarchy was weird and strict.
October 31, 2025 at 11:15 AM
I also didn't get equity, which is weird considering I'm working for free before the company is even created. But I still hoped that they will just create the company soon and will pay me as an employee and I'll work as an employee no problem.
October 31, 2025 at 11:13 AM
and the answer was yes, when we create a company so we can start getting money from investors etc. I thought back then that I will be hired around July this year. Spoiler (I wasn't and worked for free until September). The CEO has his father as the first inventor, he invested £50K needed for a visa.
October 31, 2025 at 11:10 AM
I had a short interview with a CTO, and they wanted to take me in. But the company doesn't exist yet and they need investors, and the CEO needs to apply for the innovator founder visa first. I asked so we will start getting paid when you get the endorsement?

A few months ago I read that one person in a d&d community wanted to make a start-up related to d&d, I asked him if he needs front-end developers because I'm looking for a _job_ (apparently this part is important), he said not at this moment. He came back to me a few months later.
