Here's the interstellar comet 3I/ATLAS seen moving among the background stars in Ophiuchus on the 17 & 18th of July. It's still fairly faint & it's coma activity is not obvious to me in the individual frames. I'll have to find a way to stack on a small, faint & moving target 🔭 #Astronomy #3I/ATLAS

We live in a failed society. It's wild how shielded this place is from the everyday footage of Palestinians being torn to shreds & also the horrors of what's going on in Sudan. The only thing that keeps on Twitter is to try & not become blind to the horrors of the world that we live in
There is no context - none at all - that justifies the deliberate, calculated starvation of children.

Hubble Space Telescope images of interstellar comet 3I/ATLAS are out! These were taken 5 hours ago. Plenty of cosmic rays peppering the images, but the comet's coma looks very nice and puffy. Best of luck to the researchers trying to write up papers for this... archive.stsci.edu/proposal_sea... 🔭

After working out how to accurately align all the frames to such a faint comet, I was able to integrate the frames which smeared out all the stars but boosted the comet signal. Not sure if there's some hint of a coma around it but it's probably not very convincing to me. There was no sharpening or

Right before I saw the message from Trump I got a very different one from a friend in Tehran, so deeply surrounded by bombing that he was asking me to help communicate his last wishes. This is what my own taxes fund, so much pain upon my loved ones. We are complicit in so, so, so much violence.

Back doing 🔭 after being away from it for a couple of years! Here's a pretty cool looking galaxy that seems like it has had an interaction with another galaxy. The atmospheric seeing wasn't great so I was unable to resolve a lot of detail on what is only about 4" across in the sky flic.kr/p/2pBnJ5S
