The response from the Minister's representative at yesterday's meeting in Leinster House was shocking.

It's very clear that this government is not taking road safety seriously and people will die as a result.

Thank you to everyone who turned up today and to all the TDs and Senators who took the time to listen to us this morning.

Unfortunately, no one from the government joined us and the response from the Minister's representative was underwhelming.

We will continue the fight for safer roads for all.

Join us on Thursday morning to demand that the Department of Transport enacts the 2024 Road Traffic Act in full and implements a default 30km/h urban speed limit.

We're seeing a lot of these around Dublin lately. It signifies two things:

1. Less protection for people cycling
2. Evidence that the wand that was there didn't provide much protection anyway.

Plastic wands are so 2020 - time for something more permanent @dublincitycouncil.bsky.social!

It's 104 years since J.N. "Ding" Darling published this cartoon about situation people, and especially children, find themselves in while trying to cycle safely.

Sadly the same attitudes persist today.

Safe cycling infrastructure is better for everyone, whether you are cycling, driving or on foot.
May 20, 2025 at 3:37 PM
People who cycle are often accused of cycling "in the middle of the road".

What they really mean of course is cycling in the middle of the lane, and there are lots of good reasons why people do this, explained succinctly in this @davewalker.bsky.social cartoon for @cyclinguk.bsky.social

While our view tends to be that every week is Bike Week, this looks like a lot of fun and the cyclers of Sandymount need all the support they can get right now
May 1, 2025 at 3:41 PM
