The difference isnt an intent by the coach but the more the quality of the team. Often in games curtins teams attempted to press high but were comfortable defending in mid block. You need to be able to do both but to say a pressing transition based team cant win is a stretch

While he was fired for some of these differences he was there for a long time. The shape in midfield isnt drastically different and curtin played 4-2-2-2 at times. both had very similar game models and prioritized transition and territory vs possession.

Think they go Mosquera and move Saliba to LCB. I think if this is a few months down the road it would be hincapie but since hes only played one game at CB for Arsenal so far im guessing its mosquera

Fully convinced the players were more desperate to have the PK overturned to keep the shot on target record vs the clean sheet record going. Alas it was for nothing

One thing ive noticed with gyok. It seems hes not sure how aggressively to press. If he presses really hard his energy isnt there to run in behind. But if he doesn’t we create even less openings.

Was honestly so impressed. Athletic were up for it and arsenal matched the intensity, dug in, and eventually the quality of the squad prevailed.

They were outshot and down 2-0 in 1st half at home vs south korea on US soil less than a year away from a home world cup. Doesnt get much worse than that. Sackable offense imo

Dont even blame the players. Every person in the FO from 2023 to now should be fired. Its insane how much team and thus the excitement for the team has fallen. At the worst possible time as well. It hasnt been this bad since I started watching in 06. Imo its even worse than post missing ‘18
