Wait, are we saying that Doctor Who could be smashing the overnight ratings if the BBC started force-feeding it to people? Has anyone put this on the table?

I think "Not having to write thirty-odd separate outros" must be a strong contender!

Incidentally, that opener... freighter communicating on audio with control while another ship heads inexorably towards it... that's a Star Cops opening, isn't it? That whole "get out of the way! Too LATE!" bit is asking for a slow fade to Moonbase and Nathan incredulously going "COMPUTER FAULT?"

Oh it is in many ways terrible! Awkward, corny, overly earnest. Several of the cast give painful performances. (Gates McFadden's opening scene is a thing to behold). But I was so starved of new Star Trek at the time, and I immersed myself in it.

I'm doubtful it ever got that far, but my god can you imagine!

They're still agreeing who will be the front end and who will be the back end... The Sea Devil-type creatures are quite cool though and not, as I was fearing, a Silurian-style faceplate.

(By the way I think they've special-editioned the Myrka in the recently announced Blu ray set.)
