here's where we stand now. the sides are open again (originally closed one with the idea of holding the other shut) bc it turns out my measurements are Wrong As Usual. bottom needs about an inch added to the circumference, the waist area needs like 3 inches added. idk what the front waist is doing

this is the goal & where we're at. i'm small but carry my weight in my belly, so part of this is meant to see if i can actually get a bit of wasp waist going (iconic for 16c brigadines)

it does work much better tho. the starter kit pens are... mostly just one line thickness no matter the pen angle

Some additional looks at what I'm doing; the second image doesn't really showcase what I want, but my phone camera refuses to focus enough to show the weave. This is more or less how I sew, pinching the outside seams together & whipstitching across.

Now you get pictures! I like starting with preparing the half gores so I have all my pieces ready to sew together, so this is the completed Frankenstein gore for the first shirt. I needed to add ~1-2", so the rectangle is slightly wider for seam allowance. I sew by hand with whipstitch.

Here's a quick sketch. No measurements, I'd have to find my sketchbook & notes to give an accurate description for the gores; though the general idea is neck to hem x2 for body length, 1/2 chest circumference for width; sleeve is shoulder to wrist (on bent arm) x bicep circumference; gussets ~5x5
