It looked like the Navy had three gun explosions in 1904.

I'm thinking the smokeless, or brown, powder they started using about that time was more volatile?

Here's the really nutty one.

FLEXDECK

A rubber, inflatable(?) deck surface that allowed planes without propellers to dispense with the weight of landing gear.

The U.S. Navy tried the practice out using F9F Panthers IIRC.

If you’re in St Croix, and want to go on a slow, long, lazy dive, the pier is the place to go.

Never more than 30-foot depth. Walk in from the beach.
