the way some men put so much weight on a firm handshake and death stare in the eye when they first meet a dude is hilarious to me.

something really sad as an older 'kid' of the migration is how we lose the actual ties to the south by way of elders dying. we lose some of the manners of speech, we lose connections, we some of the traditions. even those of us who wish to hang on to it find things slipping through our fingers.

Smuggling drugs.

WHOA. Trump says he will pardon Juan Orlando Hernandez, who once said that he wanted to “shove the drugs right up the noses of the gringos.” He had people killed as part of his narco-trafficking ring, which he at times operated directly out of his presidential office.

Things are looking up a little. After nearly 4 months I finally have an EBT card. I can order groceries for the time being.

Not out the woods yet, though. Still have medical bills and rent to contend with.

student loans are like credit cards when it comes to paying off your balance. At least with a car loan, you can see your balance shrink with every minimum payment. Make minimum payments on a student loan for 60 months and your balance is higher than when you graduated.

Every so often I’m reminded that Americans don’t understand how much being in a small vs big city and the concentration of capital influences what people have access to. The internet has flattened that to an extent, but not as much as people think. I

Here’s the thing: conflict shouldn’t be the absence of peace or even respect. I may not like what happened, but I still love and respect you so I’ll speak to you as such. You address the behavior, not the person. How you speak to ppl when you’re angry is louder than the situation itself.

1. It's okay to tell consumers NO. My favorite mandarin orange brand only sells from January to April and IT'S FINE. Worth the wait.

2. Eat a different kind of apple?

3. Don't blame consumers, blame greed and capitalism. So tired of this shit, nature knows what she's doing sometimes.

What I’ve observed amongst some of the children of my friends is that if you are not intentional in preventing your child from buying into anti-Blackness they’ll succumb to it.
Exactly this
And, to some extent, we are all raised with anti-blackness that we have to unlearn.
There’s also being raised to be anti-black so that rejection is just the excuse needed to justify selling out.

I know if Detroit tried to open city owned grocery stores in the poor parts of the city, a certain ethnic group would wage litigation war on city government.
