Then my son and I went to the NAMM show in 2017 and he went to find a bathroom and passed a guy all in black with blue glasses who he recognized but couldn’t place. I’m like…omg…did he look like this? And held up a picture on my phone (below). Son’s like yeah! That’s him! (Facepalm) 🤣

This painting (taken yesterday) is now a comforting old friend. Who knew that some cheap mass-produced hotel painting, probably in hundreds of rooms all over the world, could have such importance. After my son died, my mom drove down to be with me, and stayed at room 107 of the local Microtel. On the wall there was a painting I stared at for so long that I took a picture of it.
