Thank you.
Finishing The Accidental Immigrants by Jo Macmillan. Really elegant exposition for a horribly chilling and familiar-feeling tale. Perfect for our times. Great read. @jomcmillan.bsky.social @ofmooseandmen.bsky.social

I loved ‘shorty September’ and finished a little early - so I’m doing another batch 🤣.

I’ve not posted for aaagges! Apologies. Clumsiness led to finger #.

I have now read 7 of the Booker Prize longlist and have another 2 I am working through. I will then be shifting to do ‘Shorty September’. These are my under 200 pp books I’ve chosen. Hope everybody is happy and reading 🥰.

I anticipated that by the end of today I would become one of the many players in a dystopian novel. Thankfully my internet went down for most of the day. Scary shit 😔

Just finished reading this beautiful copy of ‘The Old Curiosity Shop’ which originally belonged to my paternal grandmother. What a joy. Dickens is funny - I had no idea! Duh

My gratitude to Jennifer and all the lovely writers at this event. You made me so welcome. Your book recommendations and advice invaluable. My neurones still fizzing and new synapses forming. 🥰🥰
Huge thanks to all the writers who gave amazing talks yesterday, and to our speakers at the Oct event. That's a wrap for Creative Community Sessions for 2024, but we'll be back in early 2025 for more wonderful talks and presentations.

This made my morning 🥰. Norman’s poetry fostered my love of literature as a child. He is my chosen imaginary tutor perched on my shoulder as I write. Of course… he’s pretty blunt and critical but I love him for that too. 🥰🥰
This is glorious; particularly as I'm listening to Billy Connolly's Windswept and Interesting, narrated by Billy himself.

I regret though that the extract from McCaig's A Man in Assynt which closes the program is missing what for me is a vital phrase - the final sentence in the following extract:
Fishing for Poetry: A Celebration of Norman MacCaig

Aly Bain, Andrew Greig & Billy Connolly seek the Loch of the Green Corrie – with MacCaig’s poetry read by Douglas Dunn, Alasdair Gray, Seamus Heaney, Jackie Kay, Tom Leonard, Liz Lochhead & Aonghas MacNeacail
