Installers might never suggest this, but with radiators, uneven heat can be compensated for by setting up the circulating pump to run constantly. The boiler still turns on/off by the thermostat, but hot water circulates and prevents large swings in radiator temps. Use the cast iron in your favor.

If I might interject; I would repeat and maybe enhance David's point about maintenance and lifespan. Any 96+efficiency system is complex and has enough condensation damages to destroy itself in 20 years or less. Also heat pumps are very inefficient in very cold temps due to gas/liquid conversion.
