Melora Hart. Zelda archivist & publication campaigner for 23+ years. Art, books, manga, the retro & rare. Into Zelda? I've quietly been the source for a lot of what you know. https://linktr.ee/historyofhyrule disabled/artist/animal nerd/gardener/hiker
There was a recent interview with Terada & I believe he said the same thing as this: he was given guides to work off of. The guide I posted with the pink-haired female Link was done by Tokuma Shoten/Wanpakku/Workhouse. Workhouse also did Nintendo Power art www.hyruleinterviews.com/Email-interv...

My guess is all 3! Also the artists probably thought it would be fun for a drawing. But I know from artists at 2 studios that they would just be given previous strategy guides to help them work on their projects.

This was one of the first guides: historyofhyrule.blogspot.com/2022/05/arch...

As far as I can tell only the author is listed in the guide and none of the artists. If the information is in an unorthodox place in it though I may have just missed it.

Thanks!

They're actually just tiny little envelopes. Here's some photos of them online (I scanned these a while ago and my scan doesn't show the back flap this well)

Thanks! I didn't think this would take so long 😆

They're not super perfect but they're fairly decent patch-jobs to get one nice image to look at. I'm uploading the completely text-free/cleaned art too: bsky.app/profile/its-...

Oddly is seems several weren't really online? Or were very small

This took a really long time but I was finally able to stitch together all the scans for this 1987 #Nintendo Famicom calendar with rare art for #Mario, #Zelda, #Metroid, Murasame Castle, and the Mario Anime. The cleaned 2400dpi files are uploaded with RAWS incoming: archive.org/details/1987...

I am so sorry. I ..I hate this reality.

I know how this feels. Before the ACA I couldn't afford care when I needed it. I am so sorry. I am gutted this is happening. I hate that this is happening to you.

With English being my first, and only, language you'd think I'd be better at it. 😆

That one is SO UNSETTLING! That and the tektite that seems to have multiple optic nerves attached to its lens. I mean, I kind of love them but they really are nightmare fuel!

I'm going to re-add it! Glad you mentioned it! I actually took it off really early because I wasn't really sure what was going on and I wanted to be able to see the shapes more clearly, but once I realized it was a banner I had the same thought, it would make sense for it to stay. TY!!

I'm glad you mentioned that because I took it off early and then, once I figured out it was a scroll, I realized it was meant to be a part of the image: so I wanted to go back and re-add it, but it's been a few days so I probably would have forgotten, lol

Right? I kept 2nd guessing myself! But when I would look at the bubble text I would see little hints something wasn't completely hidden.

So, who knows, but I'm glad it seems like a decent enough guess that people are okay with it! Looks nice to not have it coated in lettering.
