Went on a bit of a track walk, did some shopping, the Japanese Garden, and popped over the road to France - you immediately notice the difference on the pavement 😂

Thanks to everyone who logged into my Kohima Educational Trust talk this evening, with Sylvia and Rob about Thunder Run Meiktila 1945. I had a brilliant time, & there were some great questions at the end. You can get the book at most of the normal places or here www.chiselbury.co.uk/bookstore/p/...

Why use ai slop when there are real pictures of the guy. FFS 🤦‍♂️

Yes I know about clickbait, it’s not about the history for them etc etc

The scene of Robert Redford crossing the Waal in A Bridge Too Far was always one of my favourites. Immediately takes me back to watching it with my grandpa on a battered VHS, and Nan mentioning how much she fancied him in (I think) All The Presidents Men.

This was such a fun pod to do, a wide ranging chat with two great hosts. Give them a listen on Apple and Spotify - remember military historians are people too!

Short but sweet - as always I enjoyed Sat-Sun of We Have Ways Fest hopefully next year school won’t have open morning on the same day. Thanks again @almurray.bsky.social and James Holland. Great to catch up friends too.

Had a wonderful evening celebrating the opening of the Battle Of Britain 85 exhibition - thank you BoB Bunker for inviting me. Highlight was having a nice chat with James Nicholson VC’s nephew (also James!).

Have a great time everyone at #whw Fest - I’m at work Fri+Sat morning so I’ll be suffering fomo as the hours drag by until I get there. All packed and ready for a quick exit to pitch camp, although Jenson has decided he wants to come too! @almurray.bsky.social

In this week's episode I said I would post a Google Earth map I use in a presentation - I meant to post this earlier but here it is! The basin is the bottom of the blue marker at the confluence of the Chindwin and a tributary*.

(*look at me using geography words!)
