We got jealous of pax goers so had a little mini gaming con Saturday. And finally got my hands on the fellowship promo! I really wish Asmodee made this kind of stuff easier to get ahold of. Really liking Iliad and rebirth! Harvest is FANTASTIC solo, and we were tired but had fun at 4p!

Ok here's the pitch. It's a visual podcast. The hosts are small toys that live in a boardgame shelf. Animation is very minimal and choppy but cute. They record their owners chatting about the games they play and use the audio as they put on a little show. Low poly/res 3D. Monthly.

Agreed. I took my copy a step further and cut the box and reshaped it to fit a deck of sleeves cards. Now it's a functional box. I get why, but wish publishers didn't prioritize retail for boxes. There's so many funky box sizes and shapes out there that look good on a hanger and suck on a shelf.

How important is box size for you? We're gonna stick with 2 sizes; "large" and "small" (9x9" and 5x9") as both of these sizes fit in my backpack and I know that games that are portable get taken to places and are more often played. (More chances anyways)

ratings are such a weird thing. As a designer, who knows people look at the average, i don't think i've rated anything below a 5. I enjoy most games I play. I treat ratings like a 'joy' meter with a mix of 'that's clever, i should have thought of that first'. People only bring me good stuff. 😘😜

Somewhere between D&D and whatever the king's dilemma is. you don't really do a lot of imagination work in MIRU. But if def leans in that direction I think. I think of it like an analog Zelda game ha.

And the day ends here. Did a little rewrite on the actions/rules, think i have an okay approach/twist. There's phases like an 18xx, but you (the company) will get 4-5 actions each round. You're also an investor, in that phase you'll buy goods to deliver. company with the most cash in the end wins.

some early saturday design work. Expanding on this mancala train idea I had some time ago. What if something like Ostia and 18xx had a baby. (Elseware Express vol2?) Idea is on your turn, you pick an action, train tokens on it are X. 'buy x, build x, etc' then you mancala them around the track.
