My one wish for modern politics is to drop this left vs right nonsense, if only we could appreciate that somebody can both agree and disagree with a political party, and someone that doesn't agree with you isn't the enemy. People can have differing opinions, and long may it last.

It's a strange time in politics, where everything bad in the media is definitely the government doing something wrong, and everything right is because somebody else made them.
Whilst they don't listen to others, but make too many u turns, and are in the pockets of the rich while taxing them more 🤔

Fully agree with this petition, this is clearly a serious issue, and we've seen its impacts on other countries, I definitely support a public inquiry into Russia's influence.

Those to the right shouting how the budget is an attack on the population through tax and how unfair higher earners being hit is, the left that everything good is because of others and the rest is useless. Tends to suggest labours budget hits that center/left quite well.

I refused to read comments all day, finally thought I'd look at what people were saying, predicted it perfectly.
How long until I see someone claiming Starmer/Reeves didn't want to remove the cap and it was due to another political party.

The labour budget today has some great aspects. I understand the frustration that it doesn't go far enough in some areas, but I think the steady changes have balanced improving everyone's lives with keeping the markets settled, which unfortunately is something we need to do.

Plus sides to today: Two-child benefit scrapped. Largely progressive tax implications. Good market reaction. No big spending cuts. Nightmare prospect of cutting funding to net zero etc avoided. It's a left-wing budget. Those who say there's no difference between Labour and Tories are bananas.

This is big news, the future of energy is a complex discussion, but for me nuclear power, specifically thorium, combined with renewables is the way forward. Combine this with refuelling without shutdown, it looks positive for the future.

Whilst I'm not a renter, I have young family who soon will be, this is such a positive step to support people to feel secure in their homes. Just a positive story for a Friday.

Whilst I'm not a renter, I have young family who soon will be, this is such a positive step to support people to feel secure in their homes. Just a positive story for a Friday.
A lot of interesting stats showing the NHS is heading in the right direction, albeit slowly, but what makes it impressive is the progress made whilst experiencing some of the busiest months on record. Fantastic work by all.
New NHS England stats, via NHS Confederation:
"The total waiting list for procedures and appointments has dropped to 7.39 million in September, down from 7.41 million in August.
"The proportion of people waiting less than 18 weeks for care stood at 61.8% in September, up from 61.0% in August."

When discussing the use of nuclear power, the argument "nuclear power is bullshit" was an interesting start. But finishing it off with anybody that disagrees with me should just be quiet pretty much sums them up. What a sad way to go through life.

An interesting read highlighting a serious issue in Scotland. I live in an area surrounded by inherited estates, the amount they limit the growth of rural communities is astonishing.
"The Scottish Government devised a scheme to help the very rich cream off public subsidies for tree planting. Buy land and then the Scottish Government will help you make a fortune from it by planting trees – any trees, anywhere. That is government for the rich, not for the public good."
Land is power – Scotland’s people have none
