Sorry to be adding to your TBR (okay, I'm not *that* sorry), but if you haven't read this one yet, I venture to say that you must.

What sort of lottery did I win to get to read these two books back-to-back? 🤩

550 lucky kids got to hear from Kate DiCamillo this morning. You should have heard their gasps when she shared this number on the screen. 473 rejections before Because of Winn-Dixie.

Still riding the high from the Columbus Book Festival this weekend. From managing lines to moderating speed-matching to tidying after the festival closed (and getting rained on ⛈️), it was a lovely, inspiring event. See you next year 🙌

Final attendance: 40,225

I always read a book's acknowledgments before starting the actual story. I love the insights into the story's journey to publication. But last night was the first time I SAW MY OWN NAME THERE. 😱

Reader, I gasped.

In 100% related news, be sure to pick up Shawn K. Stout's ANATOMY OF LOST THINGS. 🥰

Hi there! Re-introducing myself for anyone new to Bluesky. I'm Kiley, a Youth Services Librarian and aspiring #kidlit writer (PB and MG). Here's a cute picture of my dog because he's the best. 😍

Are we doing intros again now that Bluesky is public? If so, I'm a Youth Services Librarian and aspiring #kidlit author. Happy to meet you! #WritingCommunity

Omg I had my own version of Goodreads.

Just in case any #kidlit agents or editors out there are interested in picture book manuscripts influenced by the Columbus Crew/Save the Crew movement/Historic Crew Stadium, I've got two different versions I'd love to talk through with you 😅

I actually did it. I finished the first draft of my third MG novel. It's 50,000 words of a hot mess, but I did it! Looking forward to revising this one... in a week or so 😅

Happy Thanksgiving! Today I'm grateful for the authors who put magic on the page--the ones who write the books where, after staying up too late, I close it and say, "How did they DO that?"

Finished this 🤯 last night.

The upside of this nasty two-week long COVID/cold combo that has made me blow through my PTO and miss #NCTE23 is... I may have a chance of actually winning NaNo?
November 18, 2023 at 2:55 PM
Sick and not going to make it to #NCTE23. I’d signed up to volunteer 8 hours in order to attend the rest of the conference for free and was really hoping I’d be better by now, but… alas. That COVID will getcha, I guess. Here’s hoping I’ll someday be able to attend as an author 🤞

Rabbit hole research for my WIP led me to this cologne review, and now I can't stop thinking about NO GOOD MEATBALL MAN.
November 10, 2023 at 1:45 AM
I'm volunteering at #NCTE and will be attending as many sessions as I can! Questions about Columbus? (I live here!) The library system? (The convention center is a 30-min walk from Main AND my branch!) Where to eat or grab coffee? (We're a foodie city.) Let me know!
