Started reading: Apple in China by Patrick McGee 📚

Finally available from my library (via Libby). Let’s see if all the positive reviews hold up. (Based on the prologue, they will.)

Finished reading: Born to Run by Christopher McDougall 📚

Holy smokes, what a book! Both the story and science were each captivating. Definitely got me fired up for running, and getting back into barefoot shoes. 👍👍

It’s too late to get any of the deals, but Cards Against Humanity’s 99% off sale still made me chuckle.

Watched: The Marvels 🍿

I know I’m behind on this, but they really did this movie dirty. Great characters and actors, just a shamefully poor storyline.
The Marvels
When her duties send her to an anomalous wormhole linked to a Kree revolutionary, Carol's powers become entangled with that of Jersey City super-fan Kamala Khan, aka Ms. Marvel, and Carol's estranged niece, now S.A.B.E.R. astronaut Captain Monica Rambeau. Together, this unlikely trio must team up and learn to work in concert to save the universe.

Watched: Stranger Things S5E4, Chapter Four: Sorcerer 📺

Definitively yell-at-the-TV-the-whole-time-because-of-plot-holes kind of show. But that didn’t stop us from binging all four episodes released today. Some genuinely good moments too. Won’t be too sad when things wrap up next month.
Stranger Things 5
The fall of 1987. Hawkins is scarred by the opening of the Rifts, and our heroes are united by a single goal: find and kill Vecna. But he has vanished — his whereabouts and plans unknown. Complicating their mission, the government has placed the town under military quarantine and intensified its hunt for Eleven, forcing her back into hiding. As the anniversary of Will's disappearance approaches, so does a heavy, familiar dread. The final battle is looming — and with it, a darkness more powerful and more deadly than anything they've faced before. To end this nightmare, they'll need everyone — the full party — standing together, one last time.

Apple’s recent Newsroom post on how it’s now 3D printing its titanium Apple Watch cases is fascinating. When it was announced during the September event, I wondered if I’d be able to discern any difference in quality. I absolutely cannot. It’s as precise and premium as any Apple Watch I’ve ever had.
Mapping the future with 3D-printed titanium Apple Watch cases
Apple Watch Ultra 3 and titanium Apple Watch Series 11 cases are now 3D-printed with 100 percent recycled aerospace-grade titanium powder.

@[email protected] We use the same technique to remove one-time codes from screenshots, too. This approach hides information not just from screenshots, but also from screen mirroring/sharing. And, random: if anyone ever wants to save some non-password data in Passwords, but is annoyed by having to put a password in and see a useless “Password” row, use a password of “-“. Passwords will omit the password from AutoFill and hide the “Password” row from the detail view.

Watched: Masters of the Air 📺

Much like Chernobyl, I think this is a series that everyone should see.
Masters of the Air
During World War II, airmen risk their lives with the 100th Bomb Group, a brotherhood forged by courage, loss, and triumph.

Watched: La La Land 🍿

It may not be the world’s best musical movie, but gosh do I enjoy it. Both Stone and Gosling do so well. The ending is clever, if not totally satisfying. And the tunes are sure to be in my head for weeks. 👍👍
La La Land
Mia, an aspiring actress, serves lattes to movie stars in between auditions and Sebastian, a jazz musician, scrapes by playing cocktail party gigs in dingy bars, but as success mounts they are faced with decisions that begin to fray the fragile fabric of their love affair, and the dreams they worked so hard to maintain in each other threaten to rip them apart.

After some time away from this show, I binged a few episodes today. Truly gripping stuff that showcases the horrors of being on a fighter plane in WW2. Gonna need some time to process it for sure.
