OHA statement. On point. Gov Green is pushing us into a false dichotomy. Hawaii can and must shape the negotiation not just accept the terms Trump admin imposes. Call the governor’s office. Green has national ambitions, make it clear those are imperiled by his actions here.

I completely missed this but itʻs good news!

Gov Green was either ignorant of the fact that Army couldnʻt get appropriation for eminent domain without congress or was willing to ignore the law if it meant getting what he wanted. The whole thing was bad and weird on both sides.
Hawaii no longer faces an imminent deadline to negotiate new leases for military training lands, Gov. Josh Green said Monday.

Hawaii really should do this. People rarely think about it but we spend an awful lot on debt servicing and and awful lot on issuing our debt. Itʻs a huge subsidy for BankOH, FHB, etc all of which are state chartered banks btw.
In 1975, Wall Street declared war on New York, sending the city into a fiscal crisis.

A forgotten public banking proposal in the state assembly could have stopped it — and put both the city and the country on the path to socialized finance.
