I understand they have a very small budget and probably the actors have limited skating skills but I do feel very deprived of any scenes of them actually competing on the ice, to fill out their relationship more

Again, I know the genre so I can fill in the blanks and enjoy the actors but it's an overall flaw imo

I know it's a lot to show in the space of an episode, but not having a good idea what happens in any given game or in Shane's career generally makes everything feel less specific. I assume they didn't want to put off non-sports fans but sometimes it feels floating in space.

back with further thoughts: as someone who has written A LOT of fic about athletes balancing a secret relationship with their dueling careers, personal lives, and being closeted, the show is kinda uneven about showing how that comes out in their sex dynamic

anyway the sex scenes are at least as good as Thai BL ones and Connor Storrie’s ass is the real star of the show, which is the news you can use

since I am very familiar with hockey and the various types of people in it, it works for me, but I think it would feel very disconnected otherwise, especially without two good and likeable lead actors (which is an edge it has over RWRB where I really disliked one of them)

I will say it has the same problem as so many pro things that come from a fandom background, the characters and their dynamic are just presented without enough context/backstory to really explain them, but it works better onscreen where at least you can see and hear the guys

Tumblr trained me years ago not to make original posts because people would find them, they’d get reblogged into new contexts, and suddenly you’re dealing with hate and dog piling and I had no control over it

honestly, given the size of fandom and the internet these days I think it makes sense before giving people more exposure; over here I rarely repost something if I’m the first and always think before reposting a friend just bc they’ll be getting an unknown audience
