Liberal Democrat MP for Epsom and Ewell, Spokesperson for Defence

Published and promoted by Epsom & Ewell Liberal Democrats, 38 West Farm Close, Ashtead, KT21 1RZ
After hearing the Chancellor deliver yesterday’s Budget, I couldn’t leave the Chamber without voicing my disappointment on behalf of the hospitality businesses and working people in Epsom and Ewell who were let down yet again by this government.

Today’s Budget is a chance to put people first.

The Liberal Democrats are calling for an emergency plan to give immediate help to households and high streets.

We’ll be scrutinising every line of the budget to ensure it delivers the fairness and support people need.

I’m grateful to have met with UNRWA reps in Geneva last week to hear about their vital work supporting and educating Palestinian children, and delivering aid across the region.

We also discussed the harmful disinformation circulating about their operations within the UN’s local engagement model.

When British troops died in Iraq because of poor equipment, ECHR laws ensured the government was accountable.

The ECHR was written by British lawyers and reflects our values. That’s why we voted to stay.

The recent Government announcement regarding military home standards is a huge win for our Armed Forces families.

After years of campaigning, the Lib Dems have secured legal protections to end mouldy, unsafe military housing.

I’m proud to have fought for this change.

Many of my constituents are BN(O) visa holders who have made their home in Epsom and Ewell.

I was proud to intervene in a Westminster Hall debate to push for clarity and reassurance to those affected by the proposed changes.

I was delighted to secure a parliamentary debate on pavement parking.

We must do more to address this issue proactively, and I made this point to Surrey County Council back in July ✍️

Last week, I pressured the UK government to act. To demand Israel lift their illegal aid blockade on Gaza and to sanction the Israeli cabinet complicit in it.

🚶 Pavements are for people, not parking.

Today I hosted a debate in Parliament urging the Govt to end pavement parking, a barrier to safety & independence for disabled people, parents & children.

It was wonderful to visit Beyond Words in Leatherhead and meet with founder Baroness Hollins 🧡

Delighted that the Card Factory and Danilo Promotions have listened to calls I made in January to increase the representation of female athletes in their consumer goods. 🙌

Following the Lionesses' incredible Euros success, retailers should raise the bar even higher! ❤️

It was a pleasure to visit MyDentist in Epsom and be shown around by Michaela. 🦷

Seeing a dentist should never be a postcode lottery, it’s a necessity, and I'm delighted that they are delivering NHS dentistry for more than 15,000 patients in our community. 🧡

I joined more than 90 MPs in urging the Foreign Secretary, Home Secretary, and Health Secretary to do more to help evacuate the very sickest children from Gaza.

The situation is horrifying and children are dying. Urgent action is needed. 👇
