50 mph winds, hilltop banquet, birthday cakes, climbing through barbed wire and putting the world to rights with one of my very best buddies. The Hampshire Downs threw everything at us today and it was absolutely wonderful! #BringItOn

Wansdyke, a huge boundary earthwork seen here between Tan Hill and Milk Hill in Wiltshire. A stunning landscape.

Martinsell Hill, Wiltshire. The stunning eastern scarp, dropping 130m down from the 32-acre Iron Age hillfort. You can clearly see the "pit holes" marking the hillside. Incredible landscape!

An aerial view of the Seven Barrows, my local slice of ancient landscape. This top-down view was taken back in winter with the solitary tree casting a sharp, northwards shadow. #History

The incredible 'unfinished' Ladle Hill hillfort in Wiltshire from above. You can clearly see the outline of the ditch and bank that was never completed. A unique glimpse into an ancient abandoned project. #Hillfort

The 2026 Swire Arts Prize is open. The theme will be "Shapes and Shadows of The Ridgeway". I will be judging the photography section again and there are plenty of other mediums...

Uffington Castle, bordered to the South by The Ridgeway (though historically this may have gone to the North). This is one of 3 hill camps in this immediate location, the other two are no longer obvious without a map.

Uffington White Horse charging towards the hillfort. It is lovely at this time of year. #neolithic

Barbury Castle, bisected by The Ridgeway National Trail. This was taken back in early summer and is looking South West towards Milk and Tan Hills in #Wiltshire

Mountains... they are fun, they remove a pound or two but they age you. Like some drugs but safer...

Striking lines and textures at Brightwell Barrow back in late summer. The recently tilled earth meets the stubble field, all watched over by the gentle glow of the Belt of Venus on the horizon. A perfect end to the day. #BeltOfVenus #LandscapePhotography #Sunset

Settled tonight on Fan Frynych, roughly 630m. Beautiful climb up above the clouds, but stormy weather ahead.

So thrilled to witness this 10 metre long artwork by Anna Dillon and Becky Carrozza at the launch of the Springline Project. Absolutely mesmerising artwork of the very highest standard. Proud to have been involved and also to have pulled the sheet off!

"Cadair Arthur" or "King Arthur's Seat"; the highest point in Southern Britain comprising Corn Du and Pen-y-Fan, both with magnificent celtic cairns. This view, across the gigantic Cwy Llwch valley, is taken from the slopes of Fan Frynych. All it needs now is tents... #Wales

The Goring Gap, and Brunel's railway bridge spanning The Thames. But, is there more to this scene than we may have realised...? I am investigating something for Wessex Ways podcast.
