One of the many high points of Coogler's promotional tour for Sinners was hearing him talk about his love of Irish music to people who thought he was only using it for humorous contrast in the movie. A thoughtful enthusiast is a joyous educator.

Yep, this damn country. A few years ago we traded in our beloved (and tiny, yet spacious) Honda Fit when we got an EV. Honda no longer makes Fits and every time I see one I get mad about that. It’s all SUVs all the time.

The best solution to the hazards of cars is not self-driving cars of course, but better transit and thus fewer cars on the road in general. This has the double benefit of being good for the climate. But alas, the US is not so into this idea.

My friend’s 5 year old got run over by a car as they were crossing the street last month because “the sun was in the driver’s eye”. The car ran over his pelvis and luckily missed his internal organs, and he’s doing ok. These “accidents” happen all the time with human drivers.
