There are still way too many people in this day and age, some with a lot of political power, who read the actions of that passage and the surrounding ones who come away with the conclusion that "The Jews killed Jesus" even though he was tortured and executed by Romans in a specifically Roman way.

That doesn't mean that certain philosophical theories can't come from examining the story, but without being able to examine the full story, it can be and has been a dangerous practice that needs to be done with finesse.

I think discussing the action at the temple is one that needs to be discussed carefully with a lot of historical context that isn't available in the Bible, especially since the story is a key factor in deicide being blamed on the people whose country was being occupied by a foreign empire.

Even in the Bible, Jesus doesn't specifically call out the vendors or money changers. He calls out people making the temple a den of thieves after disrupting business that would impact just about everybody. Jesus was a rioter in a time of military occupation.

Access into the temple itself was pretty restricted, IIRC, so it makes sense that a protest against the authorities inside of it would take place outside. The priests in the temple were most likely puppets of the Roman regime and/or Herod.

So Jesus was talking about the temple and rioting/protesting just outside of it. Focusing on the location and specific actions and drawing a conclusion is not effective. It's like saying the "No Kings" protest against Trump and the Whitehouse but held in Los Angeles is more about California.

I was surprised by just how tasty it was! It was really good.

I'm fascinated with New Mexico's wild hops since their growing conditions puts them on "Sky Islands." Mountain regions above where some flora and fauna can only survive at high elevations, which allows for unique evolution. I think there is a unique opportunity for "frontier brewing" here. 6/

Hops have been foraged and cultivated for thousands of years in New Mexico, often used for teas and Native American remedies and medicine. Later, due to Spanish influence, monks got in on it, a tradition that continues to this day. 5/

Neomexicanus hops have a wide range, and I've been scouting places to forage for them. They usually grow above 6000ft (1830M) in sandy soil near waterways and there are lots of places in New Mexico that meet that requirement. 4/

Some Neomexicanus hops are cultivated and farmed, like the Zappa hop, named after the legend himself. I've brewed with many of them and they have a fascinating flavor profile. Easy to overdo it, which can make the beer taste like it was made with Kool-aid. 3/

Me, from New Mexico, feels excluded by people from Mexico calling themselves Mexicans.

J/K no I'm not. I'm just silly.

Haha! I actually thought about Europe and the EU, and if we started calling Mexicans from Estados Unidos Mexicanos EUians, we could cause some real global chaos!

Yeah. Historically, calling folks here "Americans" is a "just way it has always been" kind of thing, even pre U.S.A. I guess we could blame the British from centuries ago ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Of course, far too many people in the U.S.A. don't even realize we're a U.S.A state with U.S.A citizens. But nobody here gets cranky that folks from Mexico call themselves Mexican and exclude us, because that would be completely silly.
