I have a microscopic patch of this planet. It’s enough. Binned off the other place. So far this looks better. The natural world rules. Don’t argue with it.

The FT today:

Rachel Reeves has succeeded in leading skittish UK bond markets to a safe place. Love or hate the politics of the Budget she delivered this week, it is churlish not to give her credit for that.

Better with Labour. 👍. By far.

I need a more laughy emoji. Like hysterical laughter.
Has ever an opening paragraph been more appropriate?

Folks. There is no reason to go to a panto this season. Just keep your eye on The Your Party. It’s hilarious.
It's the satirists I feel sorriest for.

Well, when you put it like that 🤣 My god. Someone give @dailyherald a medal for putting all that together.
Here is the latest update on this Labour government's achievements (including the Autumn Budget 2025):

This government has Nationalised the railways and British Steel, allowed for locally owned buses, created GB Energy, the National Wealth Fund, and created the National Housing Bank.

I think we all need a laugh. A good insight into how Corbyn has managed 40 years of paid politics without achieving a bloody thing.

Proof positive that Labour is working. Ed Davey now lowering himself to right wing rag status. They’re all panicking. Can you ‘bury’ something in a public document? 🤔
I wish I was surprised. Buried in this Budget is a plan to slash the Digital Services Tax, giving a multi-billion tax cut to US tech giants and the likes of Elon Musk.

That's right, cutting taxes for the world's richest man while hiking them for millions of hard-working Brits.

Weird that the Budget is so "back-loaded", with very few tax rises next year, and then massive effects from the threshold freeze in 2030

Why?

Bless Allister. Good to see him telling the country that things are getting better. I’ll have me some of that “full-blooded socialism”.

My attendance record in the European Parliament was the 4th worst out of 751 MEPs, yet I managed to turn up to vote AGAINST plans to tackle Russian misinformation.
Thankfully this is of no interest to the media.

Just Rosie knocking Polanski right off his populist perch.
Our Labour government ARE taxing wealth.

They ARE making the wealthiest in society pay more.

They did it in the last Budget & I expect more tomorrow.

Anyone who says it's not happening is lying to you.

Anyone who promotes phrases like 'tax billionaires' with no details is selling false hope.

Expanding free school meals is an anti-poverty, pro-learning, properly Labour policy.

We're setting up children to give school everything they've got, no matter their background.

To all the haters...

...the PM is a good man trying to sort out the mess the Tories left behind.

But he's also gone through the loss of his brother last Christmas.

It's quote something to go through that and keep on running the country.

I'm sure I don't have to repeat the many ways the Tories destroyed me - even as far as an eviction order. Then I see Owen Jones whingeing about Starmer starving the poor, disabled & sick (me?) and I get angry!!!

Received my Winter Fuel Allowance today. £200. I don’t need it but I’d like to thank all the bleeding heart, self-proclaimed socialists for making it possible. After all, why give the really needy enough to not be needy when you can hand it out to the non-needy. Great job guys 👍

Exactly this ! It’s a trap and the holier than thou are falling for it .. unbelievably naive to think it’s anything other than that .. even Badenoch tried it yesterday and got the same sod off from Mahmood.. who actually does get it !
Are they (Reform/Robinson/Tories) applauding Mahmood because they genuinely like the policy or is it that they know "the libs" like me will be appalled to hear that they're supporting her policy & will therefore turn away from Labour to the Greens, LDs, plaid/SNP & thereby diluting the centre-Left ?

I have no words. Luckily Oisin does. Wtf is this latest from ‘Your Going Bonkers Party’?!
A fascinating and revealing thread.
People from mining areas don't want the pits to reopen. Mining is hard, dangerous work.
What they want is the highly paid jobs that enable their communities to flourish.
Okay, I can't let this one go. I live in Ireland, not the UK, but the use of this image by a supposedly socialist party is so stupid and offensive, I'm going to get stuck in.

Let me explain to you why any experienced illustrator/designer could have stopped you making so many miserable mistakes. 1/

Real people in real towns are being helped by this government. Don’t let ANYONE tell you differently. Things are starting to improve and it’s the people who desperately need the help who are getting it first. Labour are transforming this country into one we can be proud of.
It’s a slow burn Marge. our money is going into low paid and our children in schools/education, EXACTLY the right targets. My 3 kids (38-43) had pay rises (and back pay) above inflation for the first time in 14 years, got help with child care, breakfast clubs and lunches as well as mortgage drops. 👍
Labour MP'S like my own doing great work locally for our communities. Just been to a local meeting he organised to engage the community re the 1.5 million our town received from the Pride in Britain fund for town centre regeneration.
Needed some normality after this week.
