I am not saying that a stroke like this is disqualifying for the office of the presidency, not at all. Neuro recovery is a remarkable and individual thing.
But like, it is very clearly what's going on here.

This thread escaped containment and I would like to use this as an opportunity to address some misconceptions about stroke as a disease and recovery thereof I noticed in the replies.
I'm going to use an example from my career where I was so glad to be so wrong about a patient's prognosis.

For context, I estimate about 50-70 of those BP agents to be affiliated with either BORTAC (or BORSTAR to a much lesser extent), which would be 1/6 of the entire available Border Patrol agents assigned to one of these units. This was never a sustainable operation.
"Another source with direct knowledge said the number of Border Patrol agents currently operating in the Chicago area will go from 250 down to 100. But in March, that number could increase to 1,000 agents."

Fetterman for senate minority leader until 2026.
All I’m saying is that if I am to synthesize the mood of this website and my understanding that it is the minority leader’s job to be loathed and hated during a rebuilding year as a unifying coalition force, he’s your best candidate.

The trick when working with folks that have progressive cerebrovascular disease is to allow your identity and ego to die as theirs does.
My wife's grandfather is quite old, and has really advanced dementia, and this is basically what he wants 24/7 - he has to be told how smart and how good a job he did and how much everyone relies on him and blah blah blah pretty much non-stop or he just hits the roof.
People marvel at this, but this is what it’s all about for Trump. He needs this constant lavish praise as deeply and profoundly as you and I need air.
But also: Imagine what a basket case you would have to be psychologically to need this all the time.

not for nothing, there was a crisis of masculinity after WWI also - the sacrifice of the human paschals whose blood was sprinkled on the lintels of Europe was forgotten in the pursuit of the aesthetics of a masculine ideal that inevitably lead to more war, more deaths of the innocents.

Before there was Veterans Day, there was Armistice Day. We shouldn't have changed it. When we rattle sabers and hold human life cheaply, I think about this dedication from my Great Grandfather's WWI unit history. Armistice Day was as much of a warning as it was a celebration.
Lest we forget.

We ran our annual county MCI drill on Sunday - simulated active shooter incident with 25 patients. The training duality you refer to came out in the AAR a bit; and yet, we had 40 responders show up and six ambulances staffed simultaneously, which is no small thing in a rural county of 8,500 people.

If I ever make the bad decision to get another grad degree, I'll probably do a dissertation on this topic.
It's my tepid explanation for why smaller community level public safety organizations in the US have experienced so much decay, and why agencies supported by larger county or cities haven't.

There are social and cultural things at play here too, a lot of communities see their public safety departments of representative of civic institutions from a bygone era of higher social trust. Unfortunately, this also means these communities are less likely to reform them with the times.

"The gambling industry has rebranded isolation and obsession as dedication."
Sports industry marketing has been doing this for a long time. Playing up solo training and "the effort no one sees." Makes sense it's been adopted by the sports betting industry.

“The consequences extend beyond lost money. Hazardous gambling is correlated with increased rates of anxiety and depression, and young men who engage in it are more likely to slide into a full-blown gambling addiction. Boys who frequently gamble miss more classes, perform worse in school”
The rise of sports betting is a growing public health crisis
Sports betting is more addictive than ever, and millions of young Americans are paying the price.

I felt a certain impatience with all the “Civ-Mil” experts in the lead up to Trump II because none of them ever engaged with the fact that from 1/6 -1/20/2021, the Office of the Presidency was de facto controlled by a mechanism outside the constitutional order.
Everyone jumped to polite fiction.

Extremely tangential, but the Jan 6th - Jan 20th triumvirate is one of those things that is unknown to most of the population. It has had no effects, and I thought it would.
one of the weirdest things that people believe on a website where the collective mood changes every thirty-six hours is that events completely unknown to 60% of the population, where 90% have the facts wrong, will have persistent effects eighteen months later

I think the places he takes his traveling circus of degeneracy will radicalize accordingly.
