I think being forced to so much as a kid is a big part of why I’m so touch averse now. Working on it, but still very very big on people not touching me without permission, ESPECIALLY strangers.

-feel good to be able to make the choice for herself. And made her enthusiastic to choose my hand the last day. I was forced to hold hands or hug or kiss relatives/people I did not wish to as a kid, and I didn’t want to impose that on another child. Kids are human beings <3

-today she would like to hold my hand or have me hold onto her backpack strap. I’d give her the choice every day, and she’d pick the backpack strap. Then on the last day, she told me with a big smile she chose my hand. Gave me a huge hug and took my hand gleefully that last day. I think it made her-

when I was in HS I had a class where we took care of preschoolers. As I was the last class of the day, we’d take them out to their parents, and had to cross the street. Many students struggled to wrangle their kids if they didn’t want to hold hands, and they were forced to. I would ask my kiddo if-
