Starting the week in Bogotá with an exchange with Colombian and European experts on invasive alien species data management.

Amazing to see what has been done in Colombia for harmonising and providing biodiversity.

Next stop #LivingData2025 conference starting tomorrow.

This week I had the pleasure of presenting our work on #biodiversity #impacts of companies at a workshop by Fauna & Flora, #IUCN and Taskforce on Nature-related Financial Disclosures #TNFD.

A fantastic opportunity to exchange across sectors.

Many thanks for having me! I enjoyed it very much. 🙏

Very interesting meeting of the #CBD inter-liaison group of #invasive alien #species!

A small group but with representatives from very different organisations from sectors of eg trade, tourism, agriculture, biodiversity. Amazing to see how much is going on. But this needs to be coordinated!

Second day our our @b-cubed.eu annual meeting. Discussing

- use of @gbif.org data cubes for modelling and indicators
- indicators of biodiversity change (incl. #bioinvasion indicators)
- stakeholder engagement
- uncertainty and robustness of results

Fascinating and challenging 🤓

First day of our @b-cubed.eu project meeting is over.

Quite a lot of new software products developed based on species occurrence cubes by @gbif.org. The cubes are used eg for SDMs, invasibility cubes and to calculate a set of indicators of biodiversity change.

Soon all online and as #R packages.

On my way to our annual project meeting of @b-cubed.eu in Leipzig.

Looking forward to discuss species occurrence cubes, indicators and case studies with a great Team of people.

But for now, I have to for the delayed train…

Since last year, I am head of a research group, which I enjoy very much. Great people and great collaboration.

It is quite a hybrid collaboration, which works quite well. But it took around ten months that we manage to meet all in person. A historic moment! Let’s when this will happen again 😅

Last week I was teaching "modelling of population dynamics".

It was fun to talk about #theoretical #ecology, logistic growth and the old graphical tools like cob-webbing to visualise stability, oscillations and chaos. Fascinating stuff 🤓

First time since more than 12 years since my last course...
