Dear Americans - she has a point here 😆 Had a Sunday roast every Sunday - apart from if we were camping - every Sunday until I was 18! They were just a thing - and my Mum’s roast potatoes were the best! Meat more questionable at times 😆

It is hard to stand up for what you believe sometimes. But here is someone who did.
In a massive meeting of doctors… on the topic of the aging population and resource problems…

Yes.

One of them said we should consider not treating people with co-morbidities.

My friends.

I could not hold my tongue.

I became a vegetarian with vegan hints slightly quickly. Yes yes it’s still the cheese! Ethical question - I have found some of my Mum’s amazing lamb dish in the freezer. Do I eat it? I mean it is tasty. The cats will get some and they are avowed meat eaters.

Three weeks ago I marked nine years on Testosterone.

I didn't celebrate it then because I was in the middle of a multi-month battle to be allowed to stay on it, despite not producing my own hormones and simply wanting to remain on the exact prescription I'd had for nine years without any problems.

I love that Ted Danson is having a good career in his 70s. Yes I am watching the second series of Man on the Inside

A Jim update is always welcome
THREAD.

3 years ago, with no warning, a brilliant orange farm cat wandered over from the draughty barn where he had been living, in rural Cornwall, and decided he wanted to live with us instead.

We decided to call him Jim.

This is the first photo I took of him, on that night: December 1st, 2022.

How do I put this... You're asking me to suffer for my country and I'm asking why I need to suffer at all.

Very glad to have this brought to my attention - and toilets are massively important for public health etc. but this graphic is sinister!
The only thing we should be celebrating today

Dacey confessed: “I didn’t even mean to steal it. I dropped it and couldn’t find it on the floor. When I got home, I realised it was in the bag I’d been holding – but the Supreme Court are hardly going to believe that.”

Can I recommend Bosnia Herzegovina as a place to visit? Just got back with a long reading list for myself! Such a rich and recently dreadful history, a real blend of Islam and Christianity (at least where we were), beautiful, friendly - and if you like cats, then you’ll be totally set!

I don’t think the message is “get a raccoon” - but they are beautiful
Raccoons are showing early signs of domestication.

Urban raccoons are evolving a short snout, a telltale feature of pets & other domesticated animals, but scientists believe this is just a ploy to get closer to our trash.

This is Roy. We feed him but aren't falling for his bullshit act.

I have a journal from about 11-18. I’m now 50. My 2 school friends from the time are still duty bound to remove this item without reading it and destroy it! But it’s sort of nice to experience some of the intensity and rawness of the time.
So I was going through some boxes and found my journals from elementary and middle school and let’s just say I’m VERY grateful social media didn’t get big til I was in college. No one needed to be subjected to these thoughts.

Has anyone been to - or is anyone in - Sarajevo? I’ll be there at the end of the week and would welcome any recommendations. I have obviously looked some stuff up too, but can’t quite get a sense of it.

If you’re a fan of cats, you’ll be a fan of @saffronsfloof.bsky.social and the fostering she does (with a bit of help from a human)!
It’s time for some introductions.

I’ve accidentally fostered some cats and they have all been young and not neutered. Many vets will do this surgery fairly cheaply and there is financial help from charities too www.pdsa.org.uk/pet-help-and...

There are two key points at which this country took a wrong turn. One is when Gordon Brown didn't say "Look I'm sure she's perfectly nice but what she *was* bigoted". The other was when Sky let Goodwin off the hook by cutting away. Should have made him eat that entire fucking book.

Good mini thread and link. As an adult, I appreciate being able to do some of my work admin at home where I can get up and down and fidget as much as I like and sit or stand - so 5 year olds must need those options even more!
There's a debate going on atm about how much 5 year olds should sit at desks. The weird thing about these conversations is that we have plenty of evidence on how sitting affects health and development but this gets ignored because some people see stillness as a virtue. 🤷‍♀️

Why we should sit less
There is increasing evidence that spending too much time sitting is bad for your health.

Sparrows are the best. I used to feed them all the time and have a line of them on my fence on the morning. This practice has now stopped due to cats also knowing about the event. Said with no cat hate - I’ve got 2 indoor ones.
Like clockwork.

@ronanhession.bsky.social really enjoying the TV adaptation of Leonard and Hungry Paul. Because I am Home Counties girl, I did not hear their voices like that at all - what a fool - but so far as gentle, funny and heartbreaking as the book. Congratulations

Lunar House is a massive building in Croydon for “processing immigrants”. Yes that is actual language used. I live near there and for lots of reasons we have many neighbours seeking asylum or another legal right to remain. Some are utter wankers, most are lovely. Almost like actual humans
None of you lot spent any time at Lunar House and frankly, it shows

Well. Have you ever wondered how to save a cat’s eye? An actual eye.
Okay I have a very long - yet lovely - cat post. In the brewing. Everyone was fine. No cats died. Would anyone be interested how a bog standard semi-feral cat did amazing science?
