It really does feel like this current administration is some kind of accelerationist ploy to move American government into its next iteration. It's like every move is designed to strike at points where our political system is weak.

Seattle-based e-bike giant Rad Power Bikes has filed official notice to Washington State as well as the company's 64 Washington employees that the company could end operations "as early as January 2026." A November 7 Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification ("WARN") filed with the state (PDF) lists both service-level workers at the company's retail and repair shop as well as corporate workers at their Seattle headquarters, including top-level positions like CEO and CFO.

So it turns out... the US air travel system was incredibly, deeply dependent on federal funding to just run day-to-day all this time, to the benefit of private airline shareholders, when everyone thinks that state-run trains are leeching off the government. Weird!

I like when people tell me a post car dependence USA is "never gonna happen"
The way I see it, if we don't move past car dependence, there will be no USA. So it is inevitable either way. We must adapt or we will perish.
