PhD at The Neuro (aka MNI) 🇨🇦 and from 🇹🇷. Attemping to use MRI as a microscope 🌈 Just want to share cool things I get to learn every day with everyone, like I’m telling them to my mum.

Hi Bluesky! I’m curious. What is a burning question you have about MRI? What do you want to know the most about this super cool system? Maybe I can help you figure it out and I’ll learn something new in the process 🤔 🧪 #MRI #MRS
Okay, what a week!!! Heading home from the IDEA workshop. That was a lot of stuff in the best way possible. I am so pumped to go back to my sequence programming on Monday 😎😎 Thank you all the amazing scientists for everything and answering my crazy questions patiently ❤️ #MRISky community is awesome!

I mean this quote can’t be more true today. Thank you Jane 🫂
RIP Jane Goodall, who has died at 91.

She was a gentle disrupter who reshaped how we understand our place in nature. Her research with chimpanzees revolutionized science, and her boundless optimism touched the world.

YES!! Not only the constant notifications but also the effectiveness varies for everyone. I had days when a breathing exercise or meditation weren’t enough. Everybody might need something different at different times. It would be nice if apps can remind that. Ex: a body scan still makes me anxious.

Today in PhD: Back to basics. Reading an awesome chapter 5 on physics of diffusion in Handbook of Diffusion #MRI tractography. Let’s see if I’ll convincingly answer questions I have today. (I love my job 😍) #PhDSky #AcademicSky #MRI

Today in PhD: Actually preparing for my tutorial for the course I’m TAing. No research today 🫣 #PhDSky #AcademicSky But don’t think I forgot you diffusion #MRI. Still thinking how to represent application of diffusion gradients in my Bloch Simulation.

Today in PhD: Reading about the physics of #Diffusion. And reading the same sentence 5 times so I understand what’s going on. Welcome to reading Friday 🎉 #PhDSky #AcademicSky #MRI

Today in my PhD: Brain is super fast, yet very slow to output things. Energy levels on the low side. Inspiration not really there. Writing some code to read stuff into MATLAB. I guess that’s alright?? #PhDSky #AcademicSky

It’s an “I’m annoyed because I don’t understand why pre-compiled works but my compile doesn’t…” kind of day. It seems building mini diffusion MRI in your computer isn’t as easy as it sounds 😅 #PhDSky #MRI

Funny I talked about the exact the same thing with my friends, and a bit with my supervisor. I’m working on seeking non-science advice from my supervisor more and more but making them neurons connect with other neurons that thinks “seeking advice from your boss is not weakness” is taking some time 🌈

Faraday’s law lets us do MRI. But when doing the said MRI creates this artifact called eddy currents. I modified to modified my diffusion sequence to get less of this artifact 🤞 Now I’m working on an experiment to evaluate how well I’m correcting for them during data acquisition 🤔 #MRI #PhDSky 🧪

Well hello my “mini diffusion MRI in my computer”. Most people call this a diffusion MRI simulation. The whole thing is like using MR physics to complete the simulation puzzle. I love my job ❤️❤️ (next step make a not mini version and compare with my actual MR experiments) #MRI #PhDSky 🧪

Today I’m working on: Simulating diffusion MRI in my computer. It’s like I’m running an MRI experiment on a teeny tiny sample and looking at how water is moving in that sample but all in my computer. How cool is that 😍😍 #MRI 🧪

(Why? To see if diffusion over time can tell us about white matter.)
