⚔️ Lead your Viking army to victory in
DUELING HORNS! ⚔️
This makes Kings incredibly important to the game, as they directly deny your opponent any additional action economy. Not only that, but Kings cannot be pushed! They are immovable, and laugh at any attempt to move them.

Hope this answers your question, Trenton!

But when the KING slays a warrior, his foes are filled with fear and astonishment! The King's axe or sword cleaves through shields as though they are made of parchment, and heaps of corpses rise around the warrior kings in DH. Thus, when the King slays a foe, no Rage is collected.

In DH, your King is a legendary warrior! And one of the ways we show that is through our Rage system. Normally, when a warrior is struck down, the enemy warriors who witness the fall of their comrade are filled with vengeance, and their retaliation is fierce.

In other abstract strategy games, your king is rarely the "main character" of the story. He shuffles around at the back of the board, biting his nails and praying fervently that the battle stays far away from him.

In Tafl, the only time your opponent ever interacts with your pieces is when they are eliminating your pieces. In DH even pieces that are safe from getting eliminated aren't safe from being charged.

In most abstract strategy games, the only time your pieces move is when you move them. But in DH, your OPPONENT can also move your pieces by charging them. This makes planning most dynamic, since there is no way to guarantee that your pieces will be where you want them to be on every turn.
