As usual, it was DNS.

From AWS: `Based on our investigation, the issue appears to be related to DNS resolution of the DynamoDB API endpoint in US-EAST-1`

Said goodbye to an old hacker friend this weekend. The not so gentle reminder to say the thing, do the thing before you can not. RIP.

I haven't listened to Mama I'm Coming Home in over 20 years, not since it was played at my best friend's funeral in 2003.

But today is the day

Tears are streaming down my face as Ozzy sings it for the last time and I feel all the emotions again.

If you live in Southwest US, your unit may be on the roof, but it still needs cleaning! You can do it yourself, but you may have to open up / remove some panels, especially if you have an AC + Furnace unit.

There are also services that do it fairly cheap as well. Definitely get it done.
Hey dummy do you have an A/C? Have you cleaned the coils? You're wasting money and your thing don't work otherwise. Go spray this on it wait a bit and wash it and all that shit will slide off.

We won the LayerOne CTF. Once again the team that runs the contest knocked it out of the park. We were happy to see some good competition this year. It was very close.

Hi! 👋

I’m Kat. I’ve been a professional dev for over 15 years. I maintained the NPM CLI for 5 of those. I sat in TC39. I work at Microsoft. I’m self taught w/a film degree and no formal CS edu.

Are you new to tech? What do you wish you could ask some1 like me?

Literally AMA
I wonder if early-in-career folks would appreciate folks like me doing little AMAs on here.

One of the best things I have done since getting a dog is switch from searching "Can dogs have <x>" to "How much <x> can a 40lb dog consume".

@tailscale.com I am having a lot of stability issues on MacOS for the past few versions. In particular an error where it claims to fail to start both at boot and at random times throughout the day. Attempting to connect again usually gets stuck in "Waiting for Network".

Stepped out of the office and was greeted by "black dog in the dark" zoomies. It sounds like an Alien movie in my house with the dog skittering in the dark on the laminate.

In the US, Gardasil (HPV Vaccine) is approved for ages 9 to 45 and for all genders (that means you too, guys). It is easily available at places like Walgreens and CVS. You should get it, especially if you were unable to get it in the past as you were too old / not a woman.
guess what it stops other cancers, too… if you like oral sex, no
matter your gender, get the hpv vaccine. if you’re dj khaled, i guess don’t bother.

Testing out a long range radio collar (9 miles).

Requirements:
- tell me where the dog is, in case she runs off (e.g. chasing an animal).
- not require cell service so it can be used while camping on BLM land and other remote areas.

Enter: Dogtra Pathfinder 2.

I think we should stop pretending this isn't what we are already doing.
I propose we replace semantic versioning with pride versioning

@nedpyle.com Do you have any recommendations on GPS collars? Looking for something that works off-grid for camping (so doesn't use the cell network). Medium dog (45-50 lbs).

Prefer non-subscription, but not a hard requirement.

@ifixit.com Any plans to sell the soldering toolkit or at least the soldering toolkit roll separately? I picked up one of the soldering stations without realizing that the larger kit came with the roll and now I am sad. I love my repair kit with roll and would love to add it to the soldering station
