A little kid pitstop to fix his gloves for the millionth time. It's the only good shot I got since it's the only time he holds still! Kid was READY to go though! Went around twice!

My bike setup was sweet but my "elf legs" hat sorta set me up looking up like the Xmas version of the Donnie Darko rabbit

Bike The Lights!

My floppy kid is obsessed with pan dulce after playing this game demo.
A child laughs with their arm thrown up in the air, blurred from motion, mid-flop on a cozy crochet-covered couch. Before them is a basket of assorted pan dulce arranged on a striped cloth. There's a yellow concha, oreja, galleta, panque, besos, ojo de buey, bolillo, empanada, puerquito - and I think a gusano and a cuernito de canela. The small child grins triumphantly from a full body motion blur as he clutches a panque with both hands. He has snatched it from the pan dulce basket too quickly for my camera to capture in the fading sunlight of late autumn. There will be no evidence of his crimes.

In order to get the point, you have to reverse engineer whatever the post is about, just like Bluesky.
A series of black and white posters are glued to a concrete wall using their repetition of the same print to make a cool pattern. They feature a sleepy raccoon inserted into lino art of the tarot cards Strength and The Star. There's a masthead with the sleepy raccoon and the acronym UWL. Someone else has incorporated their own colorful purple and green poster for a metal show into the paper mural - it reads "bastards of the holy riff" and features a viking skeleton playing a flying v guitar, shooting lightning from his strum hand.

What an adventure we had~! The ride is both a journey & a shared offering, for those who pedal beside us and those we remember along the way. Thank you all for showing us the meaning of Día de los Muertos. We had no idea the depth & power of the rituals & festivities until we were swept along. 💀🏵️🦋

There were def little bikes his size at the Kid's Traffic Garden, but dude wanted to ride the giant orange training wheeler 😅 for like an hour. The volunteers were so sweet even though he'd gotten quite sassy at this point!

Finally went full skeleton just in time for churros at the Blumenauer Bridge Witching Hour Celebration~

We've stopped in the wet parking lot of the Classique Floors + Tile shop where kiddo does a "michael jackson" pose on his bike in the sudden sunlight. He's got one arm behind his back and another posed in the air, with no hands on his handlebars. The riders behind him and next to him are smiling and celebrating the sun break.

We cut paper flowers at Cargo & reflected on Día de los Angelitos. So many families have lost loved ones to cartel violence & now face persecution at the hands of the federal administration. The grief is immense.

At this point I lost track of where we were, but we biked through a parking garage filled end to end with gorgeous spray painted murals! Azra was so happy that he got to go through multiple times in a big loop.

The beans at Nossa smelled so good & their espresso con panna warmed us right up. Everyone was impressed by the custom papel picado flags at the different altars, including skeletons on bikes or reading books.
Riders mill about and chat on the sidewalk outside of Nossa Familia Coffee. The rain has died out and the Dads have taken off their rain shells to ride in their warm onesie skeleton costumes. Kiddo is still wearing a black hoodie under his blue rain pants and tall boots. You can see my black REI CTY e1.1 eBike decked out in yellow and orange marigold streamers. Kiddo in his bright green helmet looking up at the Nossa Día de los Muertos altar. The ofrenda is filled with real dried marigolds, woven baskets, candles, and photos of loved ones. Two large paper-mâché skeleton figures in plaid shirts sit on either side, while the shelves behind them display offerings and decorations under a painted blue hummingbird.

We rode under the Morrison Bridge as a pack. I love this city!
The pack of soggy cyclists takes a left turn beneath the Morrison Bridge overpass. Kiddo coasts downhill behind the critical mass of bikes, long blonde hair whipping out from his neon green helmet in the wind. Two red stop signs hang from concrete pillars on each side of the roadway. The wet pavement reflects the soft light of the gray afternoon. (A pang of sadness for the empty Le Bistro Montage building partially pictured to the right.)

The ofrenda in the front glass at Literary Arts featured painted window-art marigolds, vivid & wiggly.

Kiddo has shed the rain jacket and has parked his bike next to the colorful mobile bike altar decorated with marigolds, papel picado, and a bright skull with wings. He's carefully inspecting the photo of Selena while the lead cyclist smiles warmly at the camera dressed in a festive black, white, and red outfit with orange marigolds wrapped around her helmet.

We stopped at River City Bicycles, which is where I got my very first bike (a purple Specialized) when I first moved to Portland.

The corkers were especially kind to my little guy who rode his own bike the whole adventure, (except for a stretch of uphill near the end.) And my kid swerves into other riders & talks so much he forgets to steer, so I truly appreciate their vigilance & effort keeping the whole group safe. 🤎🧡💛
Kiddo leans on the handlebars of his small bike, patiently waiting for the parade of cyclists in rain gear and flower garlands to take off riding together again. The street is wet with drizzle and fall leaves. Behind them a red building is painted "Dick's Color Center".
