Ha yeah. That ratio sounds crazy at first, but two weeks for a 45 min talk isn't that much off the charts actually. Would be curious about your final verdict as you read the book, maybe I'll get it too.

Is it good?

Also I don't know what it is with all the "strawmen", "FUD", and such. Can't we just discuss the subject matter on a factual basis?

If you're running a separate instance, you're losing one key trait of the Postgres based solution: ensuring transactionality, e.g. when enqueuing a background job from within a business transaction. Which to me is the biggest appeal of this approach. Without it, I don't see the point really.

Hehe, yeah, I saw that one too. Though I'll give this one a pass actually, it very clearly is just a fun technical experiment, not seriously arguing to use signals as a replacement for Kafka.

Haven't tried it, but I'd look at DuckDB. It can read SQLite files (just did that earlier this week for a small DE demo I'm building) and there's a BQ extension: duckdb.org/community_ex....
bigquery
DuckDB Community Extensions Integrates DuckDB with Google BigQuery, allowing direct querying and management of BigQuery datasets
