On 16/09/2023, I embarked on a game development journey to make my first game, #CurtainsTheClown A 2D platform adventure.

I just need to spend some time with myself for a while, keep catching up on my gaming and eventually reclaim that spark that I had at the start of my game dev journey. It isn't curtains for this old clown yet.

No pain, no game... I said that wrong, but it works 😁 100%, it's all about adding to that tool belt. I'll get there eventually.

Not to worry, you haven't discouraged me 🙂 I went into this knowing it would be an adjustment to get used to the interface and memorizing the functions that I'll be needing. It is reassuring that I don't need to know everything to produce the desired results, but I'd like to learn as much as I can.

Rite of passage indeed, I'm having some trouble getting through it. Keeping up with that guy's flow is a task. I missed a step and the vertices disappeared, and I didn't know how to get them back without starting the video over.

There is something to be said about how fast and loose that guy delivers the info, I was having a hard time keeping up myself. That's a pretty solid take if you ask me.

Sounds like I'm really in for it. We'll see how it goes for me, I am determined to add 3D modeling to my skill set and I'm sure that will help with retaining the knowledge. Working up to 3D animation is the ultimate goal, so I'm willing to do what needs doing to get there.

Yeesh, I shudder to think what the old UI was like. The one in 5.0 is daunting to look at as it is.

That's actually one of the 1st things that was said in the donut tutorial I started watching. It's reassuring to know that I don't need to know literally everything about it to do what I want to do with it. Thank you for saving me the time of looking for a character model tutorial, man! 💜💚🙏

I'll be using it fairly frequently in the future, so I'm pretty confident that it'll eventually end up being second nature like using GIMP and UE5 has become.

Thanks again, and I hope you have a great day/night!

With a link to the video?? I can't express how much I appreciate you going the extra mile like that, thank you so much 💜💚🙏 I'm about to head to bed, but this is getting watched first thing when I wake up.

Hey, thank you for the suggestions! I'll be adding Imphenzia to my curriculum for sure, I just checked out the channel and it looks like that will come in seriously handy.

Yeah, there were actually a ton uploaded in the last year alone. I'm currently working my way through the latest donut tutorial. 5 hours of Blender info, let's go.
November 19, 2025 at 11:18 AM
Would you recommend that over 5.0 for a new user?
November 19, 2025 at 11:09 AM
Yeah, please don't give up. I'm legitimately looking forward to playing it.
November 19, 2025 at 11:04 AM
Oh man, it might be a while before trying to tackle anything as complex as souls-like combat mechanics and leveling. We'll see man, that would be a hell of an undertaking.
November 19, 2025 at 10:47 AM
Ooo, I'll keep that in mind for round 2 of the grind. Thank you for the tip!🙏
November 19, 2025 at 10:34 AM
Thank you, I'll be needing it for sure. I have this idea for a CTC FPS spin-off to continue one of the endings. Something along the lines of Quake.

That's what I've heard as well, but going in dry like this, it might as well still be as unwieldy as it used to be.
November 19, 2025 at 9:39 AM
That's understandable, I'm already recognizing how much easier it is to work with pixels. I welcome the challenge though.
