It just amuses me that my humble dot-com blog has outlasted actual countries hahaha. It'll never get to Scalzi's "Whatever" longevity, but still... Pretty amusing. :)

What's your take on setting up a personal dot-com blog instead? imho, the downside (no convenient shared platform) pale compared to the upside: your blog can and will outlast all those ephemeral platforms. 😎

Great book, once you get the lingo down, but it was deliberately designed to be weird and with a high entry barrier (compared to, say, Heinlein)

Hmmm... I'm inclined to agree, but what about Dune, with its 100-page Dune-to-English dictionary at the end of the book? 🤣

Yup. The only Black character in the entire movie, AFAIK, and with no agency of his own - just there to play and sing the pretty songs for everyone else. 👀

Even if they removed that line... The movie has engaging dialogue, with lots of snappy quotes, but it's so damn goofy when every character namedrops "Casablanca" every few minutes. 🤡

Imagine the cast of Friends mentioning that they live in Chicago several times per episode. 🤣
