Legit one of my fave photos from China earlier this year. It’s a police station.

That’s the 2025 edition of the Hobbit. It’s one page.

Actually, two.
The second page is just Sam opining about elevenses and second breakfasts.

It is clear from some requesters’ statements that they do not know what they are wanting to request 😂
Was this meant to say self-represented litigants? Or is it suggesting lawyers representing themselves (upon the occasion this happens?) commit crime…

At present, the hourly rate for all duty lawyers is the same as beginner legal aid lawyers, regardless of how many years’ experience a duty lawyer may have or how complex a case may be. Legal aid pay rates pay different amounts for experience, but the duty lawyer rate does not.

Duty lawyers got a small pay rise in 2023, but otherwise haven’t had a proper pay increase for almost 25 years.
The Government gave a funding boost to legal aid in Budget 2022.
But duty lawyers weren’t specifically funded, so the Legal Services Commissioner gave them a small raise.

This is so much better than the time a workmate left his voice recorder running after an interview and realised how bad his road rage was. Great story, far less wholesome. 😂

The question is whether the family has been notified prior to a statement being released. I agree that this is not entirely unprecedented, but I suspect the issue is not formal ID, but that they were probably not given enough/any time to notify others of the news.

It’s hard to know how things would have looked in an alternate timeline, it’s definitely fair to say they won that term due to the pandemic - but it was due to their RESPONSE to it.
So in that way, it was still Jacindamania showing up because people were aware what the alternative could have been.

I had a lawyer try to tell me earlier this year that if lawyers didn’t pick up generative AI, they’d all get taken over by AI tech.
I asked about the likelihood of this actually happening.
He said “that’s such a 2021 question”.

I’ve seen people freaking out over Gmail “now” using AI, but it’s like … how did you think the systems that sorted your emails into different category inboxes worked without *something* reading your emails. Not everything AI is scary or bad, it’s the gen AI stealing from sources that can be.
