Passport are acceptable. Real ID costs the same as regular in most states.

Passport and Passport Card actually are Real ID. The USDOS is more stringent about proof of citizenship than the states.

Every US state has had Real ID compliant for quite a while. The program was rolled out in 2005 with the order that it was required for Air Travel as of May 2025. Not understanding why this is such a beehive.

Real ID was announced and rolled out 20 years ago. If someone doesn’t have it at this point something is wrong.

Let them do it. The order has been in place for all IDs to be compliant as of May of 2025. It started being phased in around two decades ago.

Completely understand why. None of my Swedish relatives have come over to visit since the Offal In the Oval Office seized power.
