Minister Archibald, here’s a tip: try turning that placard around instead of holding it up for another photo op. The real question ISN’T ‘Where’s Our Safe Leave?’ It’s when will you stop posing & finally deliver it? Victims have been waiting since 2022. Enough with empty promises.

Timid budget, timid Labour. If you’re done with continuity Tory politics that protects wealth & polluters while services fall apart, it’s time to go Green. Together, we can demand real investment, real climate action and an economy that works for people, not billionaires: greenpartyni.org/join.

Freezing fuel duty again while slapping pay-per-mile on EVs is backwards. It rewards pollution and punishes cleaner choices. If we are serious about fair funding for roads and cutting emissions, the charge has to apply to all vehicles based on miles driven and impact caused.

Northern Ireland’s headline funding boost masks deeper problems: Labour’s budget still puts the squeeze on working people through frozen tax thresholds, while the richest and big polluters avoid paying their fair share.

Billionaires don’t create jobs, demand does. After years of austerity, people can’t afford to spend, local economies are starved, and everyone suffers - except the super rich.

A massive missed opportunity by Labour despite some crumbs off the table.

The 50 richest families now control more wealth than half the UK population, while Labour refuses to tax the rich or tackle runaway inequality.

“Cost of living” is just a slogan for a government still protecting power and privilege.

Families left cold. Kids locked in poverty. Schools and hospitals squeezed while polluters profit. We need real transformation - fair taxes, green jobs, proper funding for public services and a future free from self-harming austerity. Not one step backward.

Safe Leave Act was a Green Party victory. It was fought for & championed by Rachel Woods when she served as the Green Party MLA for North Down, and passed in March 2022. Now watch as other Stormont parties take credit for “future implementation” whilst domestic abuse victims continue to wait.

Brian Smyth and the Green Party are demanding urgent action from the Irish Football Association to protect local sports. Stronger vetting and safeguarding standards are essential - fans and families deserve real leadership to defend our clubs and our community’s trust.

Schools should include every child, not divide them. The Supreme Court has ruled: respect all faiths & none. Hear Cllr Anthony Flynn on BBCNI Good Morning Ulster cut through the spin - why real inclusion is urgent, and Northern Ireland’s future is unapologetically diverse. #GPNI

Belfast City Hall flies the Trans flag for Transgender Day of Remembrance. Every trans person deserves respect, safety, and equality - no exceptions. Trans rights are human rights, and the Green Party stands for dignity and inclusion. #TDOR #TransRights #GPNI

It’s time to listen, act, and ensure every child’s voice shapes a fairer, safer future. Children’s rights are not optional, they are a legal and moral duty. #MyDayMyRights

Every child has rights - unbreakable, non-negotiable, universal. Yet too many still go unheard and unprotected. This World Children’s Day, the Green Party Northern Ireland stands firmly behind the full legal incorporation of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child.

On this Trans Day of Remembrance, we honour the lives of trans and nonbinary people lost to violence, discrimination, and despair. We stand with those who face injustice and prejudice every day.

The Supreme Court has ruled that mandatory Christian worship and exclusively Christian Religious Education in NI schools are discriminatory and amount to indoctrination. RE must treat all faiths and beliefs, including non-religious worldviews, with equal respect.

1/ Social care in Northern Ireland is in meltdown. Care workers were promised a fair pay increase, but the government’s U-turn has destroyed that hope. Thousands are trapped on wages that can’t even cover basics, while vulnerable people lose vital support.

10,000 days of power-sharing, and what do we have to show for it?

A legacy of disappointment. Since the first sitting of the Northern Ireland Assembly in July 1998, only three of the seven Assembly terms have been completed without collapse.

Rain, hail or shine, Greens stand up. Belfast turned out for the Global Day of Climate Action today, and so did we. The weather was grim but the message wasn’t. Climate justice can’t wait for a dry day, and neither can we.

Belfast city centre isn’t broken - it’s being kept that way. While empty luxury flats and derelict sites dominate, real people are shut out and green space is just a buzzword. Cllr Brian Smyth calls out the hollow “regeneration” narrative and blighting Belfast’s future.

Catherine Connolly steps into the moment with the clarity Ireland needs. Her voice for equality, dignity and straight-talk accountability matters now more than ever. It’s not just a handover, it’s a chance to push the country bolder, fairer and braver.

Michael D Higgins leaves behind a presidency grounded in conscience, culture and courage. He proved public office can be moral, poetic and unapologetically on the side of people over power. That’s a legacy worth protecting.

COP30 isn’t another climate summit - it’s a fight for survival and democracy. Empty words can’t stop a burning planet.

The 1.5°C target is slipping away as rich countries stall real action and finance. Climate colonialism lives on.
